Yes, that's a tad over-the-top than I would do, but hey whatever it takes to get the job done.

Well, I guess when I laid down the law about screwing down the curtain rod brackets, something snapped, and this is what I got!

Actually she's going trick-or-treating here in a little while with the granddaughters. I'm staying home to hand out candy, and watch the dogs and the house.

My daughter stopped by so Gabe and Keegan could show us their costumes, a Ninja and Mario. Gabe just turned 12, and he's now taller than Grandma!

A sequel (BeetleJuice 2 or BeetleJuice BeetleJuice) was released in theaters in September should start to stream on Max sometime mid-November.

I couldn't find the original Beetlejuice on any of the services we currently have access to. I think you can get Beetlejuice 2 on Amazon Prime Video right now, but I think it's for a fee.

You can buy an original DVD for ~$10. I know you like Amazon. It's rated PG. Give it to your daughters/grand kids to watch.

Grandma made a German Chocolate Cake with some type of frosting that was brown and had coconut and either pecan pieces or walnut... hmmm I'll have to look that one up. Then she also made the best sweet sour red cabbage. Good memories

Last year on Halloween we had neighbors over and watched the original 1933 Frankenstein. Yesterday evening we watched the 1935 Bride of Frankenstein. Good stuff. Next year it's either going to be late 1930's Son of Frankenstein, or 1970's Young Frankenstein. No trick or treaters... too bad...

Greg - Grounds like a nice relaxing evening. I enjoy those old horror movies. We had some trick-or-treaters, but not alot. Our subdivision is smaller and mostly older couples. I suspect most of the kids that came by were someone's grandkids.

Greg - Very cool. I love those old classics. I watched them as a young pup. Boris Karloff (William Henry Pratt) was so great in the Frankenstein movies. Man, did he find his niche, eh.

A film many don't recognize &/or possibly never heard of is Castle of The Living Dead (1964). First Donald Sutherland film he received full credit (I was twelve). Watched him in numerous films/movies after seeing him first in this movie. Also features Christopher Lee, great acting career. Directed & written by Warren Kiefer. Donald stated throughout his career he owed everything to Warren Kiefer. Donald paid homage to Warren Kiefer by naming his son Kiefere Sutherland. It's a good gothic horror thriller set in Italy well worth watching. You can watch it free on YouTube.

Keith - Yes, German Chocolate Cakes are noted for their coconut + nut frosting, often constructed w/ two chocolate layers of cake separated by a thin layer of coconut + nut frosting in the middle. Delicious.

Chris - Maybe you should get them Rocky Horror Picture Show DVD, as well.

Dan - 170 hot dogs + treats? That's awesome.

I had zero trick-or-treaters. Too far removed from the beaten path to make it worthwhile for anyone to stop.

Keith - My preference are walnuts instead of pecans but that's an excellent recipe. Yeah, we had couple neighbors in our neighborhood growing up who placed hot chocolate & whipped cream on the porch. Way cool.

Christopher Lee may, or may not, be everyone's favorite Dracula, but there's no denying he was the most prolific having starred as Dracula in 10 different movies. He certainly is the person I picture as "Dracula" from my childhood. He had an acting career spanning almost seven decades. He played the Evil Lord Saruman in the modern Lord of the Rings/Hobbit movies. To me, the scariest Dracula movie by far has to be Bram Stoker's Dracula, that one is really creepy.

Christopher Lee had an amazing career at many things, but Bela Lugosi was buried in costume as the Count, so he wins for me.

Lugosi, 40-years Lee's senior, was certainly the Master of Horror of his generation, as I'd say Lee was of his. Both memorable and iconic!

Oh, and I think Lugosi suffered from his Hungarian accent in other work, but the Count was from southeastern Europe, so that's what he's supposed to sound like.

Time to clean house. Might go replace a choke cable on one car, and get another ready to roll.

Hi everyone.

Got back late this morning from Florida. I was supposed to be back early, first flight left at 6, but it left without me. Three whole flights a day out of DAB and all on 737s. Brilliant. All flights oversold. The gate agent said no chance in hell. Another guy and I took an Uber to Orlando and flew out. MCO has hourly service to Atlanta. Well, that keeps things interesting.

Had a great time at the picnic. About 90 people were there and 26 cars. Good to see people I haven't seen in a long time. Beautiful weather. Most importantly, it was nice to see my friends and stay with them and see their family. I'll be back down for Turkey Rod Run in a couple weeks.

Norm my front porch had green lights installed when I moved in. I never turn them on, because I thought, what the heck do I want green lights on for? I didn't know it was a veteran thing. I'll be sure to turn them on now. What a great idea. Chris didn't you post a picture a little while ago with all blue lights to support the police?

The Beetlejuice costume is the tops. The boys look cool too. It sure beats when I was a kid and we had pajama type outfits with plastic facemasks. My sister would trick or treat as Penelope Pitstop. Who knows who that is anymore? Actually, we'd have the face mask on and a heavy overcoat because the end of October in Illinois is usually rainy and cold.

Doctors appointments tomorrow and Tuesday. In fact I'm dropping Mom off at the doctor and then going to pick up Tiger and going back to pick up Mom. I've sure missed him this weekend. He's getting his nails trimmed while he's there and hopefully they'll come up with something better for his scratching. The apoquel didn't do squat this time. Hm.

Okay gotta do some catching up. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Mike - Glad you had a fun weekend and got home safely!

Yes, good memory, we have blue lights out front for first responders. One son-in-law is a firefighter and paramedic.

Dawn spent alot of time on her make-up and hair, she looked amazing and was the big hit out trick or treating with the grandkids. I loved watching the Wacky Races as a kid!

Hi guys,

Wet! Rained hard and steady all night, and all day today so far. I'm sure the back way out of our subdivision is under water. Supposed to move out of here around 3 or 4pm. The saving grace is very little lightning/thunder, so Monty hasn't freaked out too much.

Looking forward to the Chiefs game tonight, against Tampa Bay I believe.

Hope everyone is having a nice day and has a great evening.

Update on Rain - We've gotten 5-inches since yesterday evening. Area's not far south of us have gotten +8-inches. We're still supposed to get a break between 5pm and 2am, but then more rain the rest of the night and thru most of tomorrow. Could get really ugly around here as far as localized flooding.

Good morning everyone.

A little misty out and cloudy, supposed to get some rain. I guess I can't complain, it hasn't rained in a month. We could use some.

Got ahold of some DEI training this morning. It isn't training, it's indoctrination. It put forth all these scenarios where someone was being forward and someone else looked uncomfortable. The multiple choice answers always included the correct answer, mind your own business, but instead the only answer you could select to keep it moving was stick your nose where it doesn't belong or be a tattletale. Come on now, unless violence is occurring, keep out of it. We're all adults here.

The lead says this morning we're going to start early overtime next week. That doesn't affect me, I'm not coming in early and leaving Tiger an extra two hours alone. Mom doesn't want to keep him during the day anymore(unless she has to go to the doctor, so I can go straight there after work) so I will have to rely on Saturdays only for my overtime.

Ah, speaking of Tiger. Picked him up from jail yesterday. He scratched all weekend so they gave him a bath. Made things worse. Found and shaved one hot spot and started spritzing medicine on it. He was up all night chewing and licking and making slurping noises while doing it. The one girl gave me some salmon oil to put on his food. I don't know what else to do. Poor guy needs some relief.

Haven't heard from my friend with the Valiant yet, but it's only Tuesday. I need to pull some rims out of the crawl space and have a set of tires put on them in preparation. I bought a set of tires online for this very car about 10 years ago and never put them on. They've been hiding in the basement all this time. Even though they've aged out I'm still going to use them. They've been out of the sun and in a cool, dry place. They are Maxxis which I just found out is a Chinese/Taiwan company. Great. The chinese can make tires for my car but the country I live in can't.

So Mom goes to the dentist this afternoon. She knows better than to schedule appointments two days in a row but at least they were both at 4 and not something stupid like 2. Ah the dentist. Haven't been in, awhile. I wonder if I could be hypnotized to go to the dentist.

Okay have a great day everyone. I've got a headache taking hold, so I think I'll go for a walk and find some dark corner to hide in for a few minutes. Things are slow, the retriever works it doesn't work it works it doesn't work. So not much going on.

Mike - I hope you can get Tiger some relief, it's horrible when you know a beloved pet is suffering! We are right where you are with Tiger, with our Monty. Seems his skin allergies and hot-spots are getting worse with age. We've tried everything. The very expensive Cytopoint injections seem to work for a few weeks, then his misery comes back, along with our aggravation. I wish you all the luck in the world at getting him some relief!

Good morning guys,

Rained all night and still raining steady all morning. Lots of flooding throughout the greater St. Louis area with many major road closures. We're on top of a large hill, so no danger of the house flooding, but I read the primary route out to town is now under water, as well as the back way. I don't know when they say the primary route is "under water" if that means it's impassable or not??? We wanted to go out and vote around 10am after most folks need to be at work. Guess we'll head out then with the truck and see if we can safely get to town.

Ought to be an interesting next few days. Hope everyone has a great day!

Chris it's a conspiracy. Whoever you want to vote for, the other side made it flood so you couldn't get through. Kind of like the George Bush hurricane machine.

Well, I fooled them. Put the old truck in 4WD Low and plowed thru water up to the door! No, not really, I'm dumb, but I ain't stupid! We just got back. There was a couple inches of water on one lane of the primary road out, no issue. It's still raining but starting to let up.

Good morning everyone.

The mist is getting serious, I think it might actually rain this afternoon. I hope it waits until after work because I went out to lunch and lost my primo parking space, and had to park way in the back.

Chris years ago when I was a church-goer, it was raining really hard by my house and I set off in the car for church and the bridge over the Flint river was flooded over, and I didn't want to set off across it in the car in case it was washed away and I just couldn't see it. So I turned around and went and got my 4 wheel drive Suburban. But I thought, I'll still have the same trouble if the bridge isn't there, so I went a different way. I could have done that in the car but everyone got a laugh out of it.

So I'm not sure this stuff I got for Tiger is going to do a lot of good. I spray it on and he licks it right off. This morning I sort of massaged it in a little, but as soon as I turned around he was licking it. I can't imagine that stuff tastes good. Mom suggested I get one of those collars for him, but I'm not leaving that on him when I'm not home. I also got some stuff for his food, maybe between the two of them something will work. Or I could wish for a good frost.

Okay things are cranking up a little after lunch. Hope everyone has a good day.

Mike - I hope it does for Tiger's sake. I personally don't have any faith in any medicine or treatment for a dog with bad, chronic skin allergies. My wife would spend $500/month if it meant getting him relief, and us relief from seeing him suffer, but nothing has worked, even the pricey injections from the Vet. Luckily our other one doesn't have the skin/allergy issues, but she has her own set, like bad hips, which will become more of an issue later down the road. As much as I love our dogs, it sure wouldn't break my heart if we don't have any more if I'm still around when they pass on.

Do you guys remember "Parker's Tar Soap"? I'd get a bar of that and try it on the dog, it won't be licking it off for sure. If you haven't heard of it look it up and read about it - great stuff. I got my last order through Walmart online.

Good morning everyone.

Jamesbo what are you touching up? Must be a new accessory. You could paint your truck that color.

The retriever was broke yesterday, and it's still broke this morning. Plant Maintenance is going to come and fix it [I thought he said at 9 but that's ridiculous] this morning. On the one hand you'd think the company would say, gee, we need to get this fixed because we can't put out any tires. But the way the company works is they'll say, I guess we need to farm out the tire shop because they can't keep up.

Super that soap sounds cool. But do you smell like tar afterward? I'm starting to think Tiger just can't be cured. That spray I've been putting on the one spot seems to be helping that one spot, but I put it on other spots and it does nothing. I try to massage it in a little. Maybe now that it's been raining a little the extra moisture in the air will help.

Chris, Chris, Chris. I said the same thing. No more dogs. It wasn't two months after my last dog died that I had Tiger. I couldn't stand to be in the house. It wasn't two months that I started looking, I started looking probably a couple weeks later. I saw a few dogs and saw a lot online. I found Tiger online. I thought about getting Mom a Dane. She grew up with them and loves a Dane. But he'd have to stay at Mom's and then Tiger would be jealous when we went over there. Not fair to him. If Mom's still around when Tiger goes I'll probably get a Dane. Then the people at the vet will say, that's a funny looking Shepherd!

Think I'll go for a walk. This sitting around is going to get old real quick. Hope everyone has a good day.
