Norm - Cool story! I loved going to A&W as a boy, it was always a treat. The other treat from there was when any given set of parents who were responsible for after game treats would bring gallons of A&W Rootbeer for after our Little League baseball games. I still buy A&W Rootbeer in the 2 litre bottles from the store today once in awhile. Not as good as the original, but close. A&W Rootbeer has always been my favorite. Great memories!

I would love to have an A&W again. There was one about 2 miles from where I'm at. Used to stop there on the way back from the beach. Two Dog's 'n Suds locally, both owned by the same person, and for sale due to health problems. One about five mile away and the other about 25 miles. Both are closed. Two iconic Dogs n Suds drive-ins in Muskegon County are up for sale. The Montague location, 4454 Dowling St., and the Norton Shores location, 4221 Grand Haven Road, are the last remaining Dogs n Suds in Michigan. (Photo by Rose White | MLive)

Had memorial services on Saturday for my nephew, then drove 50 miles for a pumpkin. Gassed up the Olds yesterday for the final cruise of the year. It will be in storage sometime this week, even though we have some nice days ahead. (70ish today). But if I wait any longer, I'll lose my reservation. Took a 1 1/2 hour drive, went along Lake Michigan via Senic dr. (Norm, I believe that you said that you have ridden this route.) Then went east for a bit before winding my way back home. Car cover supposed to be here Weds.

Dan - Again, so sorry about your loss of your nephew. It is horrible to lose a kid that young.
Glad you had some nice weather to get your car out for another drive before putting it away! Sounds like a pretty drive. 👍

Great dinner! Two Imo's St. Louis style thin crust 14" pizzas, one Meat Lovers, one Deluxe. Just the 2 of us ate it all. My wife even ate all of hers except 4 small pieces. She can really eat too when she's really hungry.

Good morning everyone.

Man I'm just not feeling it. Woke up at 3, made some sort of movement that woke Tiger up, so he wanted to go out. Decided it wasn't worth going back to bed for a half hour and stayed up. I guess I needed that extra 40 minutes of sleep.

New robot guy is doing better today but in watching him I can see he's still unsure of himself. He was a quick study on the wall so I have every confidence he'll master the robot in no time.

Chris that's a lot of pizza for two people. Looks yummy. And I see it's cut correctly. My favorite are the corners.

Norm not sure what that picture is supposed to be. Is there a line in that song about a bullet in the mouth and a lampshade on the head? I'm certain you voted your conscience.

Jamesbo I must not have gotten the gist of what you're saying. If you don't want the trees, why don't you cut them down?

Think I'll take a walk. Get the blood flowing. It's only Tuesday but it feels like it should be Thursday. Oy. Okay have a good day everyone.

Jim I wish you well with the Kidney issues. My wife has Polycystic Kidney disease. It was found back in here 40's. it just kept getting worse with more cysts and less kidney function. In 2020 she was starting preparations for dialysis. We were going to do the type one can do at home. But then her niece volunteered to donate her kidney which was a match. Surgery went great and all is well. If niece hadn't done that I'm sure Linda would be a regular dialysis patient now. Chances of a older person getting a kidney are slim.

Well guys I haven't contributed much... Had a great adventure with the F100 and trailer going to Pennsylvania. Total mileage was about 1400. Had 2 problems- a plastic snap ring broke to pieces under the dash -part of the clutch linkage. I was able to cobble that up with some electrical tape. The bigger problem was a clogged fuel line in my tank. I bought a new fuel pump and filter at a Napa but that didn't fix it. I ended up running a 10' piece of rubber fuel line from fuel pump thru fire wall into cab to a 5 gal gas can. Found 2 more gas cans at the swap meet. Drove all the way back using the 3 gas cans- did run out twice when not paying attention

My fuel tank!

This is about 1/4 of the Hershey AACA fall swap meet- It's huge!!

At Bald Eagle state park- PA.

10 trucks in all.

My humble abode....

pretty crowed.
but usually I could reach over and see how heavy can was and switch before running out. It was a great trip- beautiful weather.

Greg - Good to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Very ingenuous w/ the gas cans. Was the trailer interior in as good a shape as can be seen in the images or did you install new materials? I haven't been camping in several years - you're tempting my creative juices.

Don't put too much thought into it. I was in a crazed mood & that picture was taken during the 2016 election.

Used to have a 52 Chevy pickup that the fuel outlet would get clogged up and would need to run on a gas can in the cab, I feel your pain, but you really learn to multitask when driving that way

Greg - Sounds like you had a nice time despite the truck issues, glad it was a fun trip all in all. Nice "MacGyver'ing" on the clutch linkage and fuel system. Thanks for the pics! 👍

Jim - I love the Blazer. I love the color, I love the stance, I love the wheels/tires. Is it a 1972? It has the hardtop shell to go w/ it? What color is the shell?

You may need a stool to get up into the cab.

Sheesh he'd need stairs to get up there. Way cool looking rig.

Good morning everyone.

Getting warmer in the mornings. Wish it would continue. For now I'll take it. The weather is splendid in the afternoon as well.

Jamesbo that guy Rocket Raider is in Virginia. Maybe give him a call. It's only 8 hours from you, I'll go with you. About the only way I can discern a 71 from a 72 is on the 71 the rear view mirror is attached to the top of the windshield frame, and the 72 it is glued to the windshield.

Greg what's a road trip without making it an adventure? Glad you had a good time. You're very resourceful.

I went to Harbor Fright the other day and got an electric chipper shredder. It was only a hundred bucks or so, and I didn't expect a lot out of it. I was rather surprised at the good job that it did. If I can get a couple years out of it I'll be happy. I am going to have a look at my gas one and see if I can get it to stop leaking gas. I have a feeling it's as simple as the fuel line has deteriorated.

Okay have a good day everyone.

Jim- love that Blazer!!
Norm, yeah wifey and I painted inside of trailer same colors as it was. Too bad it had been painted before as it would have been a varnished luann type when new. It is a one person rig as I at 6'3" have to lay in the bigger bed at a angle. Linda did go with me once on a trial camp outing and she, at 5'2" , can fit in the bed in front that is a let down table. We found that only one person that is "up" in trailer at a time. Don't get up together- let 1st riser get up/ dressed and out before 2nd person does it. It's a good time. Only weighs 1360 lb empty, Old truck usually doesn't even know its there- though some hills in PA you could tell!

Mike - Dollars-to-Donuts you don't make it from Atlanta>Spotsylvania under 10 hours - 9.5hrs if you're lucky. It takes me 10hrs from my place (Beaufort, NC) to Atlanta. It used to take me 4.5hrs from Charlotte, NC to Atlanta.

At any rate, when you're 3 hours out from Durham, NC give me a call, I'll meet you both at Waffle House #1180, 3500 HILLSBOROUGH RD, DURHAM, NC 27705.

"WARNING, WARNING Will Robinson" - Insurance Rant

I paid into Medicare for 40-years and it ain't gonna do $hit for me!

- My wife will not be eligible for Medicare for 8 more years. Because of her multiple health issues over the past 3-years, we need to keep our current top tier insurance or we will be bankrupt. I cannot keep her on our current Govt. Retiree health insurance without me staying on it also. $500/month!

- I will get Medicare Part A for free, but that doesn't buy me much because the other insurance that we have to keep for my wife is so good.

-- If I want Medicare part B (Medical) now and down the road, including eventually a Medicare Adavantage Plan (Part C), I need to sign up for it within 3-months after I turn 65 (Nov), or it will cost an additional 10% per year after I turn 65, if I want to add it down the road. If I add it now with Part A, it will cost me $175/month, and that would add up to $17K just to have it until my wife is eligible for Medicare also, at which point we could drop the insurance we have now and enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) and Part D (drug plan). Even then, I don't think there is any way in Hell I'm ever going to recoup the $17K for carrying the Part B for me for 8-years just so we can enroll in Medicare parts A thru D when she reaches 65 and I'm 73. I'm sure this is confusing, it took alot of focus and researching on my part to understand it all. Bottom line is, I believe I've paid in my whole life to support Medicare, and I'm gonna receive little to no benefit from it, simply because my wife is younger than I am.

- Guess that's the price I'm gonna have to pay for marrying a young hottie! This $hit is F'd up!

If Mike and Jim head that way, I wish I was closer, it could be a really fun group road trip!. I need to get away from here for awhile, too much $hit weighing on me. Poor, poor, pitiful me!

Beautiful pictures Dan! Color is just starting here, maybe a 1/3 of the way towards peak color. I'd like to get out on one of my bikes at least once when we get close to peak color.
