Went to my gun range's auction tonight. Ate cheap food, drank cheap beer. Had a good time. Bought some magazines. I was interested in a Remington 870 Wingmaster Magnum in great shape. The woman, widow of the owner, pulled it and another because people weren't giving her enough money on the others. This auction has become people want top dollar for items, and it used to be people wanted a good deal for items and wanted to help other members. I asked her about it, and she was frosty when she told me she pulled it. One of those women with a couple of earthworms for a frown, probably hasn't smiled in a decade.
I may address the board on the shitty microphone used in the room, and the fact that people want top dollar and nothing moves for that; they either agree for less, or it doesn't go.
If you are not aware, the magnum versions have the ejector mounted 1/4” further rearward than the 2 3/4” models. I have read that you can move the ejector rearward on a standard model and attach a 3” chambered barrel, and have a magnum.
The older 870 Wingmasters are very nice. I had one back in the 80s, but it got stolen out of my car on the return trip from a hunt.

Thanks John, he was a real Man's, Man! I really feel for you with your Dad buddy, I know what it's like. My Mom got increasingly senile her last couple of years. The docs said it was from hardening of the arteries in her brain. The last 2 times I saw her I don't think she knew who I was which was very tough. Bless my Sister's heart, she stayed with Mom at Mom's house when she could no longer safely care for herself. There's nothing fun about watching loved ones grow old if they're losing their faculties. I hope you are able to get some support from other family members.

That's interesting, Ken. I have an old Wingmaster of my granddad's in great shape, but no desire to modify it. The 50 year old rubber buttpad and pump action and light weight already punish my shoulder enough shooting clays. I do have a couple combat shotguns and a Benelli turkey gun I set up for my dad years ago but he gave back recently. 3.5" magnum 12 gauge is cheating on turkeys.
Working this AM at the plant, by which I mean I get my guys what they need for work, and do paperwork. My plants have music, horrible music, when there is a problem on the line. It means "look at my status board and fix the problem." A conveyor is down on purpose, we powered it off to work on it. The new board for that line is faulted, but fine. This old board in the nearby area is UPSET and its big klaxon keeps blasting Micky Mouse Club. I put a ladder up there and stuffed the horn full of rags for 95% reduction. You can just barely hear it over the vents now. Old school plant construction trick; sometimes you leave the rag in there to tone it down a little permanently.
If you reload shot shells for Clay shooting, look into Longshot powder. It was designed specifically for trap and skeet competition. My hunting buddies and I discovered it many years ago. It has extremely low chamber pressures, and therefore reduced felt recoil. Standard velocity loads have significantly reduced recoil than store bought loads. The flip side to tje lower pressure is you can achieve phenomenal velocities while still operating below “normal” chamber pressures. We used to load dove rounds to 1600 fps - the recoil felt like a regular shell but the projectile sounded like it was tearing the sky apart. Didn’t really have to lead the dove, just point and shoot.

To me, that particular rock looks like a generic Limestone or Dolomite, both sedimentary rocks. A true Marble, because it is metamorphic, would exhibit a more well defined crystalline structure. Just sayin . . .

Yeah, can't really tell from the image. My bad yeah, dolomite is sedimentary until it undergoes transformation into marble when it gets its innards squeezed out of it.

Chris - Looking good - very nice. I see a opened box on the kitchen counter - not sure what's in it. Suggestion: Install door pull handles on the cabinets - available in many various styles, shapes, finishes, colors. They really add to the aesthetics and are very utilitarian/functional.
I think you may have the same style kitchen stainless steel trash/waste can container. No hands/fingers touching/opening a trash/waste container, simple pedal, easily accommodates the 11 gal. bags & easy to clean.
Norm - Thanks I'll let the wife know, 90% her vision and muscle. Couldn't find out what was in the box on the counter, it's gone. Great suggestion on the cabinet pulls, but like she is with me, my wife's one step ahead of you. She's in the process right now of deciding on style/color but hasn't ordered them yet. She's pretty sure she wants to go with the h-shape pulls on the drawers, with only ***** on the doors, but is waffling between antique brass and antique pewter/stainless. No rush really, she's still got to paint the upper cabinets yet anyway. Agree with you on the foot opening, stainless garbage cans. Easy operation, nice size, and look nice. We have 2, one for garbage and one for recycling.
FWIW - The big box stores (Lowe's, Home Depot, etc.) have a complete aisle of them. At least you can view them in your hand as opposed to ordering on-line.
Norm - Your kitchen looks great! I like the tile back splash, it really sets it off! Did you do that yourself? Wife is thinking of doing that too down the line. Hoping she let's my wallet cool off a little bit first though?
BTW - I used 2.5" x 2.5" pieces of slate ~ 1/4" thick. They are sold in assembled (woven) sheets measuring ~12" x 12". Adhesion (mortar set) is like any other tile which requires grout to finish.

Have the beast disassembled. Yes, I see two thermostatic coils - one/side. After Acorn Squash I'll monkey around a bit to see what's up. I have a pair of insulated electrician gloves to noodle about. Of course, just before I disassembled it the lever on the inoperable side was operating. A simple F'ing toaster requires two circuit boards w/ thermostatic coils & of course, little LED lamps for bagle on each side, oh geeze.
I'm assuming brown sugar, butter, and maybe a touch of cinnamon. I make it just like that, but I also put a ginormous bulk Country Sausage meatball in the center. Nothing any better than Acorn Squash!
Dinner - Ginny's Kitchen and Custard, only 5-miles down the road from me. Best burgers in St. Louis in my opinion. I don't know where they get their ground beef, but it's as flavorful as any I've ever had. No cheese, just ketchup, mustard, pickle, and onion, dont want to mask the taste of the beef. I'll eat a total of 4 of these double burgers with Spicy Nacho Doritos.
Dessert Later - My favorite icecream these days, Edy's brand Peanut Butter Park. It's Chocolate icecream with swirls of peanut butter fudge throughout it, and chocked full of mini peanut butter cups. If you love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups you'd love this icecream for sure.
I live for my Cardio workout days, I can eat as ginormous a meal and dessert as I want and not have to worry about putting on extra pounds!
