Greg - We're doing well and looking forward to Christmas. Dawn is staying busy with her furniture as usual, and I've been going to alot of my Grandson's basketball and hockey games. It's been unusually mild here too, mid-50's during the day and barely getting down to freezing at night. I could use a whole winter like this! Hope you get some snow soon so you can play with the snowmobiles!

Good morning everyone.

Just finished our brunch. It was nice for someone bringing in food for us. No champaign, though.

Been slow so far and it doesn't look like things will pick up. Eh, it's only Friday.

So I'm still reading the back pages of the thread. Right now it is October of 2013 and and a group of us just got back from visiting the Fox and the Cyclorama. Still hearing from Clint and Scot and Adrian. Scot not so much but now and then.

So I might have mentioned, I don't remember, that there's a car in California I want to go see. Stupid facebook has hung my marketplace abilities and won't say why. So I don't know if my last message to the guy was gotten or if he replied. I gave him my phone number and said would you just call me. Crickets. A normal person would think, this means I shouldn't buy this car. I think it's annoying and am trying to skirt the issues. The ones I don't know what they are.

So, not really so I just thought it just looked funny. I was supposed to go to Florida to pick up my friend's car. She called a couple days ago and said they were supposed to get bad weather this weekend and not to come. So I'll take a couple days off next week and go then. Hm, I could get out to CA as well if that guy would ever call me. Anyway a friend of mine texted and said her "ex" husband(I don't think they are actually divorced) is going to call me to see if I want to buy his Corvair parts. Haven't heard from him yet, but I know he has a lot of NOS stuff, he'll probably want 5 grand. Uh...

Okay back to work. Hope everyone has a good start to the weekend.

We have sections that are like that year round (the northwest valley with Sun City and Sun City Grand, east Mesa, and Maricopa to the south. All are permanent retirement areas.) It just gets exponentially worse during the winter when the snowbirds flock to town.

Mike - Sounds like you have several potential "irons in the fire". I hope at least a few pan out for you in the near term, and that you can get your Marketplace functionality reinstated. Good luck!

Hot diggity damn I spanked whitey quite well today (41/37). Maybe I'm losing my edge... Couldn't hit the broad side of a barn on the first front two holes...couldn't do anything wrong on the back nine.

Monster Nor'Easter storm forming and beginning to migrate up the Eastern Coast, again. Something like four or five weather advisories from late tonight through Monday - lots of rain (flooding), big A$$ winds (>60mph), thunderstorms, lightning, seas of 22 feet, high surf, storm surge, and they haven't mentioned tornadoes - yet.

Hi everyone.

Cloudy all day but not too cold. Spent the morning over at my airport talking with some of the neighbors. Did laundry and cleaned house a little this afternoon.

Talked with the guy about the car in California for about an hour last night. I still haven't gotten fb figured out so I emailed him on Mom's phone again and he called me right back. What a cool guy. He works at a drag strip and lives in a barndominium. The car sounds real nice and I'm planning on flying out with a friend of mine after Christmas. Still gotta make plans to go get my friend's car in Florida.

Rain tomorrow so inside stuff. Might just sleep all day. Have a good evening everyone.

Norm - Helluva back nine! The weather report sounds ominous. I hope you fair well.

Mike - Good deal on the car in Cali, I hope it turns out to be a nice one for you.

Not much to report here. Dreary and raining all day, but at least it's not snow..

Hi everyone.

Overcast and misting today. But such a great day! Slept in, went to Awful house, went to Walmart. There were no electric carts available so Mom had to push a cart. I asked her several times if she was okay and she said she was, and a bonus was that she couldn't linger and look at every frickin' item in the store. She got what she wanted and we left.

I was just reading Jaunty's post about his new 4 cylinder Silverado. I hope he trades it when the warranty is up, because his overloaded turbo is going to crack just about the time he's on the hook for all the repairs, and that won't be cheep. Hm. A 4 cylinder Silverado. I've seen it all now.

Sad day at Mom's, her parakeet chirped its last. That bird had to have been 12 years old. So we'll have a burial by the front walk. She said Tiger would dig it up if it were in back. I doubt it but whatever.

So I guess I'll just tinker around the house this afternoon. It hasn't rained much but it's still yucky out. And cold. Who wants to be out in that.

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Several things. (1) Squalls (squall lines) don't always from within frontal boundaries - they are a weather phenomena of their own, when they do form they do form inside a frontal boundary; (2) Squalls almost always are never the length of an entire frontal boundary, most are short length, more often you might expect several separate squalls (squall lines); (3) Squalls (squall lines) contain the most significant system updrafts & downdrafts with extremely high winds (wind shear), tornadoes can often spring up & there is significant energy in these systems. The only saving grace is generally (most often) the tornadoes don't approach the category of a Supercell Tornado (e.g. EF4/5). I expect to see many tornadoes develop along this squall line, what I'm calling a squall line of enormous length - this is one lengthy ****. I can't imagine any airport on the entire East Coast will be open for the next 12 hours at least.

The squall line should reach my location ~6PM this evening. I had nothing more to do (I'm bored) than make a pretty image. Time to retire and watch a movie 'til then.

The large ditch I cleaned is now part of the temporary 12" deep lake in my backyard. It will take several days for the water to drain. Tornado warnings were going off on my iPhone as I was in the middle of some very deep sleep - yikes, those each were extremely rude awakenings. Very small limbs/tree branches cover the landscape. I haven't evaluated the roofing shingles, yet. I think we had wind gusts over 70mph.

Good morning everyone.

Norm that sounds awful. If you don't have lightning you could go play in the water in the ditch and yard. I would.

So I think I said before that some pages are missing, or at least some posts, from TNGMT archives. I'm at November of 2013 and Jamesbo has just wrecked his Suburban. We know this because everyone is saying Holy $hit Jamesbo that's a wreck! But there are no posts beforehand saying he was in a wreck. I don't remember if there were pictures. I know, Jamesbo deleted it all.

Windy here today but I don't think we're getting rain. That just means I'll have to go around and put all my car covers back on.

Okay break is over. Hope everyone has a good start to the week.

Norm - Sounds like it got pretty hairy! I was just hearing on the news about alot of power outages up and down the coast. I'm glad you didn't have any major damage to your place.

I remember Jamesbo. Just the initial mentioning of it is missing. Do the posts get deleted intentionally for some reason or do they disappear magically? This isn't the first time I've noticed it.

Much, much colder this morning with a heavy frost and only 32° right now, with a projected high of 38°, and an overnight low tonight of only 21°, just too damn cold. At least it's supposed to be back up in the 50's by Wednesday and stay there for awhile.

Calendar looks pretty clear this week heading towards Christmas, so we won't have to be out fighting shoppers if we don't want to. Wife says she has our Christmas shopping pretty much done, so I think all we'll need is a few cards.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Did Jim fall asleep at the high counter at the Waffle House, woke up on the floor...and several days later decided to delete his Suburban experience?

No he would have surely perished from the funk on the floor under the high counter. That's not a place that gets well swept.

When did this happen? Norm, good to see you made it through the night with minor storm damage. Well, after a shitty weekend of chills, fever, and other crap, I made an appt. with my Dr.s office today. Got swabbed for strep, flu, and covid, with covid being the winner. I won't get paid for being off this week as the tight asses that own the company won't have it. next week is paid holiday, Christmas through new years, so I won't be back to work until Jan.2nd. They called in a prescription for Paxlovid, for a ten day dosage. Suppossed to keep it from my lungs, and keep me out of the hospital per the nurse.

Dan - Thanks. Found one broken shingle 'tab' on the ground & I see one other broken shingle 'tab' turned up still laying on the roof. Thus far, very minor - I'll re-cement those sometime in the near future. Vegetative debris strewn all over the landscape. Spent the entire day cleaning up, almost finished. I just don't get the notion of your company asshats not paying for sick day(s) while you fight COVID. Any chance you can get inside their offices and take a large $HIT in their offices or desk drawers? I hope the Paxlovid works out for you it has demonstrated excellent efficacy. I have a 90 year old (female) neighbor been fighting RSV (she sounds like death warmed over) for > one week. I have a good friend in Milwaukee (Wauwatosa) fighting her third round of COVID.

Dan - Sorry to hear you're ill. I can't believe those SOB's won't approve S/L when you have Covid. You really ought to try and drag yourself into work and start coughing and hacking all over them and see how they like that! They just might change their tune in a hurry? Hope you start feeling better soon.

Keith - Good URL link (post); but, you want to know what REALLY infuriates me (pisses me off)? Where in the link you supplied is there ANY "date"? When was that information posted? I see this so often from government agencies with their heads squarely up their assess.

Norm I agree. When I posted the reply I knew it may have been outdated and funds for our country may be a bit slim now with more important areas of the world needing our tax dollars. We will just have to make due

I was watching some videos & saw a big pile-up on I-94 East of Kalamazoo shut down the freeway for numerous hours - whiteout snowfall conditions.

That is an awful highway and as dangerous as any I've ever traveled on. It's always in horrible condition, always under construction, semi traffic between Chicago and Detroit is off the charts, and everyone drives way too fast. It's an accident waiting to happen, literally!

I saw that on the local news. Wind driven snow blows across the highway and craziness ensues. Been a winter pile up corridor for years.

Well, we aren't a small business, global in fact. We have tightwad owners. We have a piece of equipment that we bought a year ago for our dept. $250k for it, haven't seen it yet as they don't want to pay the installation costs. Remember, shareholders first.
