Dan - Lots of nice pics. Thanks for sharing. The red Falcon is gorgeous. I don't recall seeing many Cougar convertibles years back and I dated two gals in the early 1970s who both owned Cougars. Nice showing of some nice Oldsmobiles. Can't figure out the towel draped around the Firebird right rear tire?

Norm, I'm not sure on the tire either, unless he was hiding a soft compound tire of sorts, or if he sprayed a traction aid on it, which is not allowed. Speaking of soft compund tires, the red Studebaker Avanti had a set of Michelin X Ice radilas on the rear of the car. These are a winter specific tire only, for better grip on snow and ice, and are a softer compound to help with the grip, along with tread design and sipes. So, I asked the driver if that was why he put them on. His response was "they drove the car there from Canada, and they are required to have their winter tires on by September," (on a hobby car?). I said OK. Later I talked with Ryan Weaver, (from Canada) who has the Glade Green '69 W31, and told him about it. His response was," well, if that's what he wants to say, ok, stretching it a bit, as it is not a requirement". So, i figure that the guy was using them to enhance traction.

Ray - Really good suggestion. I've used that wood epoxy before on other areas for various other projects & found it works well for some applications but is inappropriate for other applications. This is one of the applications where it's not going to add any benefit. I'm going to move forward w/ Polyurethane caulk (PL) in this instance but really good suggestion. Thanks.

Nice pics, Dan. I saw the 70 pace car on trailer coming south on 127 as we were going north. Saw a few others I assumed were from Pure stock drags also. I was a great day weatherwise.

Good morning guys,

Had a really nice car day yesterday, the weather was just terrific! The car show from 0900 until 1500 was not real big, maybe 100 cars and 30 trucks. There were only 2 classes, "Cars" and "Trucks", and they were only giving out 3 places for cars and 3 for trucks. I did not place. I was however selected for a really nice attendance prize, a $75 Walmart Gift Card. I had alot of really nice discussions with other owners and spectators. I went to the Festus, MO Cruisin Main Street event after the Car Show. At first I went to the static display area at the Public Library there and parked, and checked out all the cars while we were waiting for the "Crusin" part to start at 1700. When it started I cruised up and down Main Street 3-tmes and then headed for home. Both sides of Main Street were packed with spectators watching and taking pics.

Taking my wife and youngest daughter to a Women's Mud Run about 35-miles away that starts at noon today. Not really my idea of fun crawling around over an obstacle course set-up in the mud, but they wanted to do it. Hopefully I'll get some dirty pictures to post for you guys later today.

Hope ya'll have a great day!

Hi guys,

Here's some pics of my wife's and daughter's participation in the Muddy Princess Mud Run. It was a 3.2-mile course, filled with all kinds of obstacles and mud pits. Unfortunately, spectators were not allowed on the course and there were only a couple of the obstacles within camera shot of where spectators were allowed to stand. They completed the course in only an hour, and did not skip any of the obstacles.

Before

Before

Daughter in the purple top down in the 1st mud pit, my wife immediately to her right with the pink bandana around the back of her hair.

Daughter in purple top siitting at top of a mud hill, pulling my wife to the top.

Exiting that 1st mud pit and hill, my wife flashes me the "V' for victory sign.

My wife in the pink top and pink tutu on the backside of the top of a large climbing wall obstacle

The two amigos in the final stretch

The victors with their medals

Chris - It looks like they had fun and I hope they had fun. I would not partake in any such event.

Jim - I honestly didn't know, so I just asked her, and she does not know if any of the proceeds go to charity either. My wife just wanted to do it because it looked fun to her, same with my daughter.

I spent a fair amount of time enjoying the day golfing. I played like a POS - again. I don't have my head into the game at the moment for some peculiar reason. I was entertained on Hole #6 when the competitor I was playing with carded a 13 on a Par 5. He put five ***** in a row into the lake. He looked up at me and said "...how many is that now?" I felt bad as I somberly said "...you're hitting #10..."

Hi everyone.

Well I'm here. Got to my room a little bit ago. I swear every place I needed to be was at the end of the building. Reno airport I think is at least a mile from Delta gates to the cab area. It's only 2pm here but I think I'm in for the day. Holy cow. I talked to Mom and she said she and Tiger are doing fine.

Norm the girls you dated with the Cougars, would they themselves be cougars now?

Great pictures Dan. I think my favorite is the 66 Barracuda.

Chris what was the object to not having any spectators? What fun is a bunch of women in the mud if you can't see them? Well, at least you could see them a little bit.

I hope everyone has a good afternoon.

Absolutely love it, Mike. I would suggest you're most likely correct in your appraisal. At least, I hope they're having fun...

Mike, that Barrucda was a sweet one, 273 4bbl, four speed. I really liked it. It is owned by a Chrysler dealer, who has had a dealership in Holland, Mi. for decades. He has a small Mopar museum in the Holland area that he will open to local car clubs. He usually brings something unique to Purestock. He ran it there, it sounded great going down the track, ended with a 17+ second 1/4 mile time.

Dan - I've been to Holland, MI a fair number of times. While in grad school (Univ of Oklahoma) I became close friends with Kim DeWeerd (male) from Holland, MI. I know there are/were many DeWeerd families in Holland, MI but Kim's dad owned a Phillips 66 automotive service station in Holland his entire life.

Mike - I didn't really understand that either to tell you the truth. The course was set-up on an existing BMX (bicycle racing) track, and wound back and forth thru woods and was kind of narrow in spots from what the girls told me. Best I can figure, the organizers didn't want spectators getting in the way and impeding the competitors.

Dan/Mike - There was a pristine Baracuda Formula S, with 273ci and 4-speed, at a show I was at a few weeks ago. I went back to see if I took pic of it and I had. I'm not that up on Mopars to know, is this the same year as the one you took a pic of Dan?

I'm not Dan. I'm also not Lisa. That is the same year Barracuda. Always like the big back window of the early Barracuda's. Some people will tell you that window is rare as hen's teeth and some people will tell you they are so plentiful people send them to the trash because they don't know what to do with them.

Chris, Inquiring minds

How did they get home?
Did you hose them off before they got into the car?

I know you didn't let them in the drop top

Jim - I drove us all (daughter's husband and grandkids stayed home) there in our daily driver SUV. The event organizers had set-up a tarp walled rinse off station with about a dozen hoses inside where the ladies could go and rinse off the big chunks. The girls told me the water from the hoses was ice cold though.

Immediately after leaving the rinse off area we went quickly to the car where we had two blankets. I held one blanket, and my wife held the other, up around my daughter while she changed into dry clothes, and then we did the same for my wife, so they didn't have to ride home wet. Worked out pretty well!

Good morning everyone.

I almost feel guilty. I went to bed early and slept, uninterupted, all night. I know Tiger pulls his tricks with Mom and she tells him to get lost.

The sun is just starting to come up and the mountains are all aglow. I'm hoping the dark clouds only look dark because there isn't any sun behind them yet. I'd hate to be sorry I didn't get a rental car.

Chris that Barracuda almost looks pink. Is it an illusion because of the red stripes? By the way the emblems are in the wrong place. Looks good anyway.

Guess I'll get myself together and go find some breakfast. If I were at work we'd be well on our way to lunch. Look forward to getting to the museum this morning. There's been a lot of changes since I've been here last and I'm anxious to see them.

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Mike - Ya, probably just an illusion because of the red stripes and the shade. It was a light cream color if I recall correctly. Would have never known about the emblems. Owner was claiming it was a true "Formula S" Car. Now that you've said that about the emblems, it may be a clone or a poor restoration. I hate it when people try to pass off clones for the real deal!

Boy I've been wrong a lot of times this weekend. Pictures of other Barracuda Formula S's show the emblems in that same spot. I must be thinking of the later cars, they have the emblems behind the wheel. Shows what I know.

It is indeed raining. Not hard, I might be able to make it all the way to the museum sticking close to the buildings with an overhang.

Norm, by any chance was it on East 8th Ave.? My memory may not be the best, but back when I worked at Chris Craft, there was a Phillip's 66 station that I stopped at on reccomendations of co workers, when I was having ignition problems with my SX. Those Barracuda's are nice cars with the 273 "S" set up. I see nice ones at cars shows from time to time, and I do like checking them out. Otto72, I'm about an hour and a half from Stanton, Mi. so I just drive over there for the day. i would head over to the Purestock Musclecar website and maybe inquire there about nearby accomodations.

Good afternoon guys,

Performance on my laptop I bought in 2018 has been slowly deteriorating. I just purchased a 1TB Toshiba external drive and I spent the morning moving a bunch of important files and pictures I want to keep over to it. Next I'll go into the laptop and do a cache clean-up and hope the performance improves some. If it doesn't help, I may need to solicit help from the PC Doctor (Norm). At least now I have my important stuff saved to an external device in case my laptop completely craps out at some point.

Really need to mow, but mid-Summer has come back and it's supposed to be mid-90's the next 3-days. I may go out and do it later this evening around 6pm, or wait until tomorrow morning as soon as the dew burns off. More than likely it'll be in the morning.

Also made an appointment for Thursday morning to take my truck in to my local mechanic to have the required State safety and emissions inspections done. After I get those done, I can renew my 2-year plate registration online and they will send me new tabs in the mail. My renewal is not due until the end of October, but our October is going to busy with several other things going on. Not much else on tap for the rest of the week. Two of my favorite judged car shows are scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday, and I plan to go to both if the weather will cooperate.

Hope everyone has a great day!
