Chris/James - Thanks. I'm getting old(er). Another round of mediocrity. It's tough playing fairways w/ matted grass & nothing under the ball during the winter months. Generally, I score lower on the front nine (lower handicap holes) than the back nine & today I shot the opposite. I suspect it did take me 9 holes to loosen up.

We are now on page "1000" of the "Good Morning Thread". Chris, we were supposed to get that storm initially, but it has shifted south of I96, and south of G.R. as well. They were at one point calling for us to get 14-19" of snow where I live, and up to 24" in other areas. They since have scaled that back significantly, though people well south of here still may get those amounts.

Dan - Glad the worst of it is going to miss you! Weatherman is still projecting 5" - 10" here from Tuesday evening through Thursday evening. If we get 10", things will be paralyzed for at least 2-days. Will definitely be able to use the new snowblower though! I see they're calling for 10" - 15" in Battle Creek where my Lil' Sis lives.

John,

It's 72 on most courses. Most have 2 par 3's and 2 par 5's and the others are all par 4's on each 9 holes

Norm's good he just won't admit it

John - Yes - 42 front/40 back {10 over par (72) 82}. As per what James has stated. Our course is a par 72 (18 holes; 6900 yards [~4 miles]). We have two par 3 holes on the front nine & two par 5 holes on the front nine with the five remaining holes being par 4 holes (9 holes front nine). We have two par 3 holes & three par 5 holes on the back nine with the four remaining holes being par 4 holes (9 holes back nine). Four par 3 holes, nine par 4 holes & five par 5 holes = 18 holes.

I saw on the local forecast this morning that a frontal system is coming mid-week. The forecast map showed a high pressure system that would force cold Canadian or Arctic air into the middle of the continent. Brrrr.

I have attempted to attach the National Weather Service forecast map:

Aloha

Had a nice trip home today and got home mid afternoon. Sunny all day, and not too cold. Had a nice visit this weekend.

Page 1000. I should go back and see what page I came in on. Lots of people come and gone in the short amount of time I've been here.

Jamesbo got a question for you. Would it be detrimental to the value of the house if the stairs to the basement weren't in the house but in the garage instead? I'm trying to figure out how to put a door in the side of the house, but said door would be about 5 feet over the floor, not very handy. I could build a floor over the stairs, thus making another room, and then put the stairs on the other side of the wall, but that would mean going into the garage to go downstairs. The garage is attached of course. The basement is not finished, and is just concrete.

Got some catching up to do around here and then off to bed. Not interested in going in early tomorrow so I'm not even asking if we are. Maybe the rest of the week if it's offered.

Peace

I didn't used to hang here as I just came for the tech stuff.

Thanks to the golfers. I understand a little better now. So, a par score on Norm's home course is 36 / 37 is 73 total?

Norm - The math in your final sentence above adds up to a par 73, not a par 72, like you stated in the 3rd sentence. Did you go to the Bodine school of cypherin'?

Ah, got it. The par three & par 4 were incorrect on the back nine. Three par 3, three par 5 & three par 4 = 36.
Hole 10 = par 4
Hole 11 = par 4
Hole 12 = par3
Hole 13 = par 5
Hole 14 = par 3 (I hate this hole)
Hole 15 = par 5
Hole 16 = par 3
Hole 17 = par 4
Hole 18 = par 5 (Number 1 handicap hole)
3 x 3 = 9
4 x 3 = 12
3 x 5 = 15

On a side note - sometimes it sucks being on the Microsoft Windows 11 Beta release candidate program. This last Beta version knocked some crusty crap around in my PC....argh.

Nah. I'm in a sorta funk at the moment negotiating a plethora of re-configurations on my PC getting ready to load a Hyper-V environment and install some Windows 11 Enterprise Virtual Machines (VMs) for testing purposes. So, I'm moving at light speed on the PC at the moment.

Mike, It's been my experience that if you paint it green they're gonna want it blue and if you paint it blue, they're gonna want it green. You just bought the place, Do what ya want and don't worry about resale.

40 Years ago, I got a 90 day note to flip aa house in a Very expensive neighborhood [near the governor mansion. ] My ex was an interior decorator and went to great links [and great ammount of $$$] to make it perfectly beautiful. Custom hand painted tiles etc./ If you don't think time flies you've never had a 90 day note. After all the work flipped it and lost 20 K
1st and last time for that experiment

What I should have done [but didn't] was paint everything some neutral color and flipped it w//o all the expense

My long awaited point is people like different looks . That's why they have horse races, People like different horses

I'm trying to decide which is funnier "The Humor de jour "thread. or some of the prattle these racing guys share

Good morning guys,

Rain moving in this afternoon with a high of 55°, then the bottom drops out of the temp about 2am tomorrow morning and a high of only 22°. They're forecasting accumulation of 1 to 3" of ice and snow on Wednesday, but the bulk is supposed to come overnight Wednesday thru Thursday morning, where they're still projecting 6" - 10" of snow. Ugh!

My wife's Oral Surgeon's Office called her yesterday with a heads-up that if things got as bad as forecasted that her appointment Thursday afternoon would probably be canceled and need to be rescheduled. Guess we'll see what happens??? I really don't want to have to get out in that crap if it gets that bad.

No big plans for today. Watching the rain should be exciting. Hope everyone has a great day!

You obviously don't remember, but I'm thankful it's sitting in my neighbor's garage and not mine. We went halves on it under the condition that he would store it because I have absolutely no room. Sure wouldn't break my heart if I never had to use it, but I'm betting it's going to get used over the next couple of days.

As a matter of fact, I do obviously remember - I don't recall stating it was in your garage. You already said in previous posts it was in your neighbor's garage because you have no room. In fact, I also recall you split the price. No, let's get some usage out of it.

Norm - Sorry, my mistake, you're right, you didn't say sit in my garage. I stand corrected! We were just watching the local news and the weatherman is now saying 7 to 10" Wednesday thru Thursday morning, I'm pretty sure it'll get used this go-round.

Chris - No worries. I recall the conversations quite well when you bought that beast - it was also within those several threads we discussed the jar of grease, hole in lid top, small brush through lid top. I reviewed the St. Louis radar about 30' ago - it looks ugly, but - should be a good test of the beast.

Really bad news is they're calling for ice 1st and then snow on top of it, could be a bad one as far as getting out anywhere!

Bad day to pick up/deliver furniture...

So, are you going to wait until it's all over & done with, or are you out there every hour cleaning off the pavement? Our family had many snow blowers of various varieties and notoriety - mostly used ones which would never start in the middle of the winter. Thankfully there were three boys in our family. It's a GAWD forsaken job shoveling ice and snow - never ending battle.

Aloha

Pretty day here, not quite warm enough but I'll take what I can get. Rain for the rest of the week I think.

I had great plans to haul a bunch of stuff over to the house, then about half way through work my bum hip started feeling like it had gravel in it. I was lucky to get to my car and into the house. I took some pain medicine but it hasn't done much. Looks like Tiger gets a sit around buddy for the afternoon.

Norm love the video. I saw it earlier but it didn't have the walk around of the engines. That $hit won't buff out! I'm sure American will bill them handsomely for the equipment that got ran over. It looked like at one point a container got sucked into the outboard engine but later the fan looked intact.

Bat Poles would work. If I had to carry anything downstairs I could take it outside and go in the door from the back yard. And you know every time I went down the Bat Pole I would say, to the bat poles! I'm gonna have to think about this.

Well I gotta go over and bring in the trash can, but I don't think I'll do anything else. This sucks. Had a cortisone shot and it worked great for about a week. Now I can wait a few months for another one that will work for a week or talk to the doctor about surgery. I got too much to do this spring for surgery. I see no easy solution.

Peace
