Did you miss me? I assume anyone who says yes is lying.
Yes, I’ve been gone for 15 months, but it wasn’t planned. My wife and I left on a two-week vacation in late July of last year, which was when I last posted, and the trip included a stop in Tennessee for the OCA Nationals.
Upon our return home, my 91-year-old father, who had been in decent health to that point, took a decided turn for the worse. We tended to him for several months, along with dealing with my mother, also then 91 and with significant dementia, and, after spending the entire month of March of this year in the hospital suffering from about a half-dozen significant ailments, it really was a mercy that he finally passed away on March 31. He was just about two months shy of his 92nd birthday.
While we were sad, of course, we could not help but remember that he lived a long, full life with many accomplishments and much to celebrate, so while we could be sad in the moment, we always raise a glass in his memory and chuckle about something he would have said or done in a given situation whenever I and my siblings get together. As long as the Buffalo Bills keep winning, he will be a content heaven-dweller.
After he passed away, we still needed to deal with my mother, now 92, and we have her now in very good elder care facility. She doesn’t say or do much, and she pretty much doesn’t recognize us any more, but she seems content, and, while she is dwindling, her doctor says she’s as healthy physically as one could hope for at this point in her life.
So, after all this time, during which I really didn’t feel much like talking about Oldsmobiles, things have finally returned to a semblance of normal, and I’m looking forward to returning to pointless arguments about trivial matters with just about everyone!
My two current babies, in case you had forgotten.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words. I haven't done much with the Toros except maintain them and drive them regularly. I took both (with the assistance of my sister, who drove one of them) to a local car show earlier this summer.
Here's some photos from the day. Not surprisingly, of the about 100 cars at the show, mine were the only two Oldsmobiles.
Just before we left for the show.
At the show. They had more cars than they could really fit comfortably, so they had them jammed in everywhere. In my case, rather than side-by-side, they had me park them in an L-shape. Whatever. It was cool to have both of them.
A wide view of the show, showing the jam-'em-in-everywhere parking arrangement.
I offered the owner of this a trade for one of my Toros, but he said no. You just can't deal with those Wonder Woman lovers!

I am sorry for your loss. I too have lost my stepson to suicide 5 months ago and my wife this week has had a break down which required professional help. I also lost my lifting partner and school mate to cancer 2 months ago. It's been a total **** show for me and another Olds buddy has pancreatic cancer but caught it early.
If you want to search, I was looking for you a couple of weeks, just use your name in a search. I missed your sarcastic witty banter!

Wow, Sending serious condolences your way. Losing a child is about as bad as it gets. I hope your wife benefits from the professional help.
Thoughts and prayers to all of you as well 🙏
I too was absent for a few due to life issues. Good friend of mine was killed in the middle of the day by a drunk driver. Three kids. I have been busy in life and also helping his wife deal. It is so true to appreciate every single breath. I take care of everything for my 88 year old Dad around his house yard etc. He lost his wife last year.
Jaunty you were brought up in another thread last week. Glad you are healthy and getting thru it.

Well my first thought was to try to honor your request with a Monty Python-esque argument clinic post, but I settled for just saying "welcom back, we missed you".
Of course! I always like to include pics whenever possible. What's the old saying about the picture-word equivalence? The internet, after all, is a graphic medium!
Anyone remember the Lynx web browser? It's a text-only web browser that was the first browser I used back in the mid-90s when the internet as we know it now was about 15 minutes old. It seemed like two days later, the graphical browser Netscape (remember that?) came along.

Wow. Good that you're there.
I was actually hit by a drunk driver back in the mid-80s. The driver was an on-duty city of Cleveland employee driving a city of Cleveland vehicle. I doubt he was a city employee after this episode. I was fully belted, and my about 2 year-old son was in a car seat next to me. Neither of us was hurt because his little car (something like a small Datsun) hit my big car ('77 Chevy Caprice) in the left rear, well away from us. Both cars were totaled, but no one was hurt. The episode very much instilled in me the advantage of a big, heavy car.

That was back when everyone spelled out websites like some boomers still do. "aitch tee tee pee colon slash slash double you double you double you period aaay oh ell period cee ohhh emm slash" instead of "aay ohh ell dot com."
