Hot Rod Power Tour 2024

Anyone looking to participate on the Hot Rod Power Tour this year? I initially wasn't thinking about it as I'd heard it was going to be in the southeast again, but the dates/locations dropped today and it's changed my mind.

June 10th-Beech Bend Raceway Park: Bowling Green, KY
June 11th-Nashville SuperSpeedway: Lebanon, TN
June 12th-L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium-Louisville, KY
June 13th-National Trail Raceway-Hebron, OH
June 14th-Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park-Indianapolis, IN

I had signed up in 2020, but Covid ruined that. I think this time I'll have a more appropriate car to participate with..just gotta get it back together and fine tune a couple things.

My dad and I and this Chevy did the long haul in 18. His back was bothering him then, and, although he's had corrective surgery, he's now 6 years older and having mental decline, so I am glad we went then.

Although I did a lot of prep work, the water pump failed soon after the epic trip and now the power steering pump is bad, but, other than that, the mostly original thing sucked down the 2k miles no issue.

I am not cool enough to do it in a ten year older Olds wagon. I want to get my friend and his wife to go, but I want to find a 98 or something for us to cruise in style.

Yeah, but Chevy water pumps grow on trees, compared to u-joints for a 62 F85 (in Sparta, KY).

I’m still at it working with very limited time off but, the first year I’m retired I’m going to do this tour . I just turned 60 and went to my first Carlisle swap meet a couple years ago . How quickly life passes us by . Good luck to all that attend and sometimes the breakdowns can make the best stories👍

Love that car Joe.

I was planning on showing the car I’m restoring this year at the OCA Nats.
It would be the perfect car for an event like this, but I want to keep it reasonably fresh for it’s debut.
Maybe next year.

Seeing as the starting line is 1700 miles from my driveway, I think I’ll pass this year.

Just bought my Gold ticket. Willing to deliver small items along the way. Will be leaving from, and returning to DE. This is a courtesy offer.

I just plug each venue into Google Maps and search for nearby hotels. Both Google Maps and various other websites (Hotels.com, for example) provide price comparisons. The reality is that any hotel close to the venue will have a bunch of Tour participants staying there. If there's a choice, I try to look for hotels in the direction of the next day's route to avoid backtracking in the morning. There are precious few hotel options around Beach Bend, and all appear to be in the vicinity of the GM plant and the Corvette museum.

I guess I need more information. I can't find any information on tickets or anything. Every place I try, the website can't be found. I even tried an another computer. Do I need tickets or do I just pay to enter at each location? I am lost and can't find anyplace for answers.

It just occurred to me that HRPT ends in Indianapolis on June 14. Homecoming is June 15. It's about a four hour drive. I did this in 2019 when HRPT ended in Norwalk, so I suspect I'll be doing it again.

Thank you, Joe. I appreciate your information. I would have responded sooner, however, we lost internet and Wi-Fi yesterday.

Anyone else going to attend any of the Power Tour 2024?

I'll be at the last two stops of the Power Tour - Hebron, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana. I may also try to stop in at Homecoming.
Unfortunately, I won't have an Olds this time.

The Indy Power tour stop is basically in my backyard. My plan is to attend Friday, and then head to Lansing.

When did Power Tour become so short? I went in 98, 99, 00, 01 and it seemed much longer back then. Side note, I even got my pic in the magazine and on the video one year. Kinda cool.

My first power tour was in 2001. That was the year it started in Pontiac Michigan and went to San Bernardino, following what was left of Route 66.

I was laid off from work, otherwise there is no way I could have used that much vacation time.

I wish Power Tour would get out of the Midwest. I live in the Midwest, more than likely any power tour stop is someplace I have already been. It seems the just rotate the stops every couple years.

I'll be attending as a co-pilot in my buddies Vette. We are leaving early Sun morning doing the whole trip. Maybe one day in the future I'll get to do it again in one of the Olds.

As much as it sucks, things fell apart at work and I can't take off. I will have to eat my fee. I will likely take off Friday and meet everyone in Indy.

Chris, PM me with your contact info so we can tag up. I'm staying at the Super 8 North in Bowling Green, near the Corvette plant. We should get there late Saturday night.

Sorry to hear that Eric. It was touch-and-go with me for a while. I assume you're headed to Lansing?

I had intentions of hitting up at least the Hebron stop, but between Youth Camp that I'm helping out with being the same week, and still kinda easing back in to comfort after the ball joint debacle..Im gonna have to pass.

I've got a buddy taking his 75 Charger with a new 5 speed installed. His car will be featured at one of the booths along the way, so I kinda wish I could see it..but it is what it is. I told him to swing by between Hebron & Indy..so we'll see.
