Hey! I'm a grand-dad now!

Jesse and Amy had a baby girl on Tuesday. That is why I have been absent from the site. Been visiting my new little grand daughter. Caitlin Rose Sorrell, 6.5 lbs, 19 inches, sweet as can be.

Congrats!!

Best part about being a grandparent is you can spoil them, then send them home

Congratulations!

Do you know why grandparents and grandchildren like each other so much?

They share a common enemy.

Well thanks guys. Jesse wanted to bring her home in an Oldsmobile. His '71 is kind of dis-assembled right now, he has the front bumper, headlight buckets, grill and nose piece off and the battery is out. My Cutlass would not hold my wife's wheelchair for the trip down and the '46 isn't ready to drive that far yet so she came home in a Volkswagen new beetle .
Amy is doing fine, she weathered the pregnancy and birth like a real trooper and is getting around very well. Caitlin cries quite a bit during the night and seems to sleep a lot during the day. I suppose it will take a while for all three of them to get accustomed to each other and get their sleep patterns worked out. I suggested something about letting a baby sometimes when you know they are just uncomfortable or upset but not needing anything and I got an un-sympathetic look from Amy so I don't think that will happen soon but she deserves to be mom now.
Ruby and I both plan to spoil Caitlin as much as possible. It is our turn now.

Congrats. Grandkids are the greatest invention ever. I have three of them and two of them live with us along with their mother (won't get into the discussion of the deadbeat dad and husband or I will be the first to be thrown off this board). The oldest is the granddaughter who is my son's daughter (soon to be 8) and my daughter has the two boys (6 and soon to be 4). I find I am a lot more patient with my grandchildren than I was with my own two kids. I think age has something to do with that. Now as everybody on this board says, "where are the pictures".

Hey, Congrats Oldsguy!
I'm sure it's a great feeling beeing a grandparent. I can't look forward to it for a while yet.(Hopefully anyway, my daughter is nine now)
But, that day nine years ago, feels like yesterday in a way. So it could really feel like "tomorrow" when it does happen eventually (I Hope anyway) lol
Congrats anyway man!

Congrats!! I guess you will have to change your name to Grand Oldsguy now. Best way to get a baby to sleep take her for a ride in an Oldsmobile or in a pinch put the baby on the dryer while it is running always worked for us a long long long time ago. Say hi to Jesse and mom and give them our best

Thanks for all of the well wishes guys. It is amazing being a dad. Caitlin already helped dad remove the carburetor and fuel pump off of the Olds. I sat her in her car seat on top of the Olds while I removed some pieces from the engine. I showed her the carb and fuel pump after I got them off. She didn't know what to think.
