Helped a friend with his Manx
A week ago I was visiting a friend in NC. He had just got a Manx dune buggy. He has rebuilt a couple now. It was a good time. I will say it was easier than working on the olds. In afternoon we took off the engine, then removed the body and everthing else. It was a barn find with no rusty bolts even after 40+ years. The speedo only had 109 miles on it. The father's son was selling it. He said his father was a welder and it showed the chassis had great welds. However there was no fuse box and everything was hard wired. Here is his build thread.

Wow. I didn't think there were any Meyers Manx left. I haven't seen one in a good 30 years.
I was talking cars with the kid at the pizza joint last weekend and his family had just sold a VW Thing which, while not as refined as a Manx, was also a hell of a lot of fun.
One of the guys at work is building a sand rail with a Chevy 4.3 V6. Promises to be fun and scary at the same time. Not sure if I really want to get in it!

Was messing around in Hobby Lobby last night and checked out the model car aisle. Lo and behold, there was a reissue of the AMT Meyers Manx model in repro original box!
Noticed they had several interesting models in original style packaging. No Oldsmobiles, but there was a 66 Mustang coupe. I had forgotten how exciting the AMT annual kits' packaging was. Made you wanna build 'em all! (and I probably built most of them)
Revell had some neat stuff too but I never felt they had the accuracy and mold quality that AMT or Monogram had. The Monogram 55 BelAir kit has been reissued. I remember when I built that kit around 5th grade or so, I thought I had accomplished something. Then I graduated to their 58 Thunderbird and 40 Ford pickup, which were pretty complex models with a lot of operating features.
Unofrtunately, between eyesight, patience and time, I doubt I ever build another kit.
