Forest fire today Less than a mile from my house. happy ending

I live on a canyon rim and have a pretty good view of the surrounding area. At about noon I noticed the smell of pine burning and with a little investigation spotted a smoke column in a area that shouldn't be habited. After calling in to the Cal Fire I was informed by the lady that it was a burn day and someone was probably burning slash and if it got worse call her back. Well it got worse and I called her back, this was not someone's leaf pile but a full bowed forest fire.

After a short discussion about where people live and can't live around here she called for a spotter plane (chopper) and sure enough there was a honest to God fire going on less than a mile from my place and down hill to boot. Luckily they had the resources and got it out in about two hours. Sure is early in the season for forest fires...... Tedd

Snow, Bears, and Flames, you need to make a lumberjack metal album about life out there.

The weather predictions are for a hotter and drier summer. Be prepared for more and be ready to leave quickly.

Glad it wasn't worse for you. Last summer we had record setting fires out here in Colorado. So many sad stories and losses. Prayers for you and yours.

We've had some small ones up here too Tedd, they were able to catch them at a few acres. I'm afraid its going to be a bad fire season this year.
