Looking to buy F150 fx 4x4 has the 5.0 v8. So tell me how your ford like this performs with tow package?

I have a 2012 F150 (not 4X4 though) with the 5.0 and tow package. Consistently gets 18 MPG all around driving. When I would pull a car hauler loaded with a 67 F85, I never knew there was anything behind me. The 5.0 Coyote has plenty of pulling power. Quite sure unless you are pulling a huge load, you will have no trouble at all.

My Old Man has a F150 4x4 and I drive it a lot for business ranch and rental work and it works fine, towes a pretty good load and gets about 15-16 MPG average city and hwy. The Old Man has always run Ford pickups on the ranch since the 60's always had good service out of them.

Ford engines are great. I've had trouble with water pumps and overdrive automatic transmissions, but the engines themselves have guts and are pretty reliable. Certainly would like a v8 for towing over turboed 6 and a 10 gear trans.

I can’t speak for a f-150 but I know the f-250’s have no problem towing what ever you hook to them. I’ve had 4 spanning 29 years and they were all reliable work trucks and did tons of plowing. Never an issue with their drivetrains. Be on the lookout for the dreaded manifold exhaust leak .I had to have exhaust manifolds replaced on all but the new one I’m driving now, and that’s not a cheap fix. I believe the now retired 2010 had a 5.4 liter in it .

My exhaust manfold on my 2000 f150 4x4 5.4 liter has been cracked for258,000 miles never fixed still driving that truck at 308,000 miles. That is not the reason for buying better newer truck. I may want to tow out of my state and I feel more comfortable with a newer lower miles truck.😜
