Talking It's not a Oldsmobile

Hi all,
I just bought a new toy.
It is a 1939 Ford Pickup, It sat there and cryed buy me, buy me, so I did.
What is a man to do, I'm only human?
And my Olds was lonely!

What a pushover...I have some swamp land in Florida and a bridge in Brooklyn that's crying "Buy me, Buy me" for sale at all times.
Send a deposit in the amount of your choice quick, some hockey puck who has a thing about putting chebby engines in Oldsmobiles is interested too.

I'd take a '39 Furd pick up.
I've had a lot of cars and trucks the Vista is my first Oldsmobile.

Old Ford trucks always need a home and someone to love them. Besides, these are the last generation of Ford trucks to share the car styling. Thumbs up from here!

good one ozspider, I have to say olds are my second loves. for me flatheads are where its at!

is the motor with the truck? Are you going to keep the flathead?

here is a 39-41 merc motor that I put together for a mate recently its out to 276 3 3/8x4" with a pretty wild cam in it. he's running these heads but a tripower intake.

or you can get a bit more out of them.

if you decide to keep the flatty and want any info I can help out, been playing with these for quite a while and their a popular motor down here in the rodding circle.

post some photos of the pickup would like to see it

for those who don't like it, you got to haul your parts in something!

Blap, blap, blappity-blap, blappity-blap, blap

Nothing else sounds like a cammed up flathead thru glasspacks!

Interesting engines. They had their shortcomings, but like all oldschool engines, have an undeniable cool factor. ESPECIALLY WITH THAT BIG HAWNKIN' BLOWER ON IT!

Ok....I'll fess up. My first "toy" was a red / black guards '46 Jailbar 2 1/2 ton short base flatbed with a sidevalve V8. Had 64,000 original miles. Beautiful old thing and I wish it was still up in the shed.

Makes me think of my 32 chopped and channeled ford Harley front fenders,
flat head merc, Lincoln zephyr 3-speed, Ruxal 2-speed rear end. Did not shift into second-high until I was doing 60. God I miss that one the most

"Jailbar" So what were you saying?

Hi Bluevista,
I love swamps, Cheques in the mail.
And I played hockey.

Hi Rocketraider,
Thank you for the thumbs up.

Hi to Flatoz,
I may take you up on that offer one day.
I want the Flathead with the Blower!
Yes the motor is still in the truck!

And Hi to Citcapp,
I know how you feel, I miss my old 54 Maineline.
All the best

Apologies for the pic quality,...photo of a photo using a phone camera.
My shed's big enough for a couple of vehicles and I shouldn't have sold this one.

Spider

So did I,

eventually I got what I wanted. If I could only get time to drive it.

That's why I bought the olds, for daily transport and to rod runs/ family holidays etc.

Very, very, very nice. That blown flathead looks right at home in there. Now get it off the dirt, clean it's tyres and put in back in the cabinet.

What?! No small block Chevy? What kind of Deuce rod is that, EVERYBODY knows ya gotta have a SBC in a hotrod!

That is a PROPER hotrod! Powered as God and Henry Ford intended it.

Eh, I guess you COULD use an early Hemi, or a Nailhead, or an early Rocket, and still have the cool factor, but that Flattie just looks right in there.

Ok Rocketraider,

firstly I apologize to ozspider for hogging his thread, but I love early HEMI's Nailheads and rockets ( in the 55) have at least one of each, but also love the poly's too.

will redeem myself with some olds stuff a bit later...

I really like dressing motors up. after all if your going to the prom, you better put your best dress on! see below.

POLY motor. for the old mans coupe.

NAILHEAD for another hotrod we're building.

And Col,

dirt roads are nothing, I don't baby any of my cars, which maybe I should but I like to drive them regardless of the weather or the roads. Lifes to short otherwise. this is on the way to John's rod and custom picnic one year, wasn't that bad when I left home, but its roll the dice with a roadster in Melbourne when you don't have a roof and it looks like rain. Can't say it was that much fun , you couldn't tell where the lines were.

I agree on that, can't wait until my son/daughter are big enough to do that job. love building them hate cleaning them. washing a car is ok, but the 'show' type clean I don't like. Have put a few cars into the Melbourne Hot Rod show over the years, not major competition mind you but still you don't want it to look like the red headed step child and there is a lot of cleaning required.
