Saving Red Inner Fenders

So, I tried removing a few of the bolts that hold the red inner fenders on my 70. They are not coming off easily; I can feel if I yanked any harder that the clip nut would just spin and break the plastic.

I think the bolts need to be either drilled out or ground down to save the inner fenders. Any tips are appreciated.

Did you spray the bolts with PB Blasted yet? Spray them liberally and let it sit overnight. That's stuff works great!

John,

On any east coast car I've owned, I've had to remove the combined inner/outer fender from the car to allow access to the nut part of those clip nuts. The nut is square and you can reach in under the top of the fender with an open end wrench to hold the nut part and keep it from spinning. If you don't care about the paint at the wheel opening, it's a lot faster to use a cutoff wheel on the bolt head. Just take your time to avoid heating the bolt to the point that you start to melt the inner fender.

X2 on what Joe said. If these are originals and have good color that are VERY worth taking your time to take apart.
