motor mount frame stand spacing
motor mount frame stand spacing
Is there different spacing for the chassis mounting bolt holes between various early a-body motor frame stands. I want to make some motor mount shims for header clearance on a 64 but I'm away from the car at the moment. Does the chevy bolt pattern match the olds pattern or are they different?
Thanks

I went from a worn out 330 to a 425. Used the original small block stands and with the 2261 motor mounts after all kinds of reading on here. The hooker headers I have are tight on the driver side frame but on the passenger side they hit on the control arm. I was going to make a shim to get the engine up just a little bit but wasn't sure of the hole spacing, I have the dimensions for the sbc stand already but couldn't find the olds dimensions online.
If its just a small amount you may want to consider putting a dent in the header pipe rather than mess with the motor mount. I've had to do that in the past and for just a street driven maybe weekend at the drag strip I don't think it would make a significant difference in performance. Just a thought.

Yes they are brand new anchor 2261 mounts. Interestingly what I took off the old motor were worn out 2286 which were ford parts but cited as something slightly taller then the 2261’s by a member on this board.
