Im trying to decide what front end rebuild components to use. I can get a pretty complete kit off ebay for 140 bucks. The brand is chassis 500, anyone used this brand?

any suggestions on who makes a decent kit? I need everything

 

I like Moog the best, but they're spendy. I would guess it depends on how much your planning to drive the car. I would hesitat to buy the cheapest brand without knowing more about them, but you may not need to go with the top dollar parts either. My 2 cents, John

 

I usually stick with names I know or that have a good reputation in the market...Moog, Federal Mogul, Timken, etc. Usually the price break for unknown name components is accounted for by lower quality/shortened lifespan. If it's a car you plan on keeping, spend a few extra bucks and buy the name brand stuff. Front end parts aren't that expensive, and you can usually pick up Moog or similar brand parts at the local parts place (AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, etc), and some places will give you a lifetime warranty on the parts.

 

I plan on buying from Kanter, and I ahvent heard any bad things about them, or fusick, but fusick is mroe for restoration, and they have new old stock parts.

 

I have the coni-seal "chassis 500" kit on the way. How can I tell if its junk?

 

If the parts say "Made In China", that's a clue Check their website. They seem pretty reputable. http://www.coni-seal.com/info/history.asp

 

Thats what I though too. The parts are made "off shore" in asia though. The fact that they sell to Carquest tells me that Id be getting these parts if I went to carquest. Ill look for the Made in China stamp!

 

The parts were made in turkey. It wasnt worth the risk, i got the NAPA lifetime stuff and it looks like its great quality

I have a 71 cutlass conv. I just rebuilt the front end with new everthing. The springs were stock and I really dont like how high it sits. I want to put lowering springs in but not sure how low is too low. I have 14" wheels and might upgrade to 15. I have found springs for a 3" drop, is that to much. Any help?
