no compressor needed jack up the car and support the control arm and lower it down when ready and the spring will drop out or need a little tug to come out

the one i have looks just like that one but its too big to fit up inside the spring.i tried removing the clamps and feeding them up lengthways as well but couldnt turn the clamps once it was inside the spring. perhaps yours pictured is physically smaller than mine.what brand is it ?

Mine's KD and I've had it for decades. I do have to feed the clamps up inside the spring as you describe. It's a bit of a PITA.

I picked up a similar compressor at napa and with some effort was able to get it hooked on and removed the spring safely on my lunch break .with a little engineering I think a guy could build a way better one that isn't such a pia

That's all well and good if there is an engine in the car, however without one its impossible.
