A body spindle question
#2
Almost the same. While the steering knuckles are identical the spindle is different. I have heard that the large bossing at the top is the only difference and can be machined down to accept the disc brake backing plate. Are you looking to convert?

Let's try this again. ALL 1964-72 A-body spindles interchange, which means that they are the same height, use the same ball joint taper, and have the same steering arm mounting holes. They also all use the same bearing sizes. The 1967-69 F-body (Camaro/Firebird) and 1968-74 X-body (Nova and clones) also use the same spindles and these also interchange.
The drum and disk spindles are NOT the same, as described here.

In my personal experience the 66 has/had 7/16" bolts which hold the steering arm (and whatever brakes you are using) to the spindle. The 67 has 1/2" in that same location.
The aftermarket kit I used to put disc brakes on the front of the 66 had 1/2" holes in the spindle (and new 1/2" bolts to use there) so I simply drilled the 66 steering arm to the 1/2" size, worked fine.
This winter I put front disc on the 67 using original parts (72 style) sourced from Brian Trick here on the board, the steering arms and spindle had 1/2" holes so no mods necessary.
Hope this helps,

I am getting ready to sell some of the misc parts left over from my 64 F-85 Post car build. I don't like collecting. These and some other the 64 F-85 parts did not get much wear, the car was parked with just over 50k on the odometer. I want to list things properly and make sure the other end knows what they are getting. These spindles are almost perfect.
