A-body vs B-body spindle height difference

Trying to make the Supreme handle! Since my LCA bushings are shot I thought I might as well go though the front end and try to improve the horrible geometry. We've all heard of the old B-body spindle trick, and how it's less than ideal due to ball joints being different - but the principle of increasing the spindle height is solid as far as I can read, and that's where the Hotchkiss tall ball joints caught my eye - it's another way to increase the effective spindle height.

http://www.hotchkis.net/tall_upper_b...t_af_body.html

So, how much taller is the B-body spindle than the A-body spindle? This balljoint adds .5", doesn't seem like a lot.

I'm very new to this suspension business, so bear with me.

when i used to race i used taller upper ball joint to get a better steering geomitry, cant remember if it was for caster camber or toe thou, but a taller upper couldn't hurt. i know everybody that raced a g-body changed spindles and upper a-arms.

basically in racing the lower arm should be level and the upper arm should slope down as it gets closer to the frame, very difficult to do with the 72 suspension but easy to do on the 76 suspension. the 84 g body front suspension just sucked from the factory.

Your on the right track, not sure what spindles to use. i'll try to be more helpful nextime.

B body spindles are 8 3/4 inches, ball joint pad to ball joint pad.
I think the stock ones are around 7 inches.

Lars: Interesting. If the 84 G-body suspension sucks, then so does the 72 A-body! :P

Trip: Sounds like I need a lot more than that .50".
