New Front Suspension install
New Front Suspension install
Been wanting to change the stance on the Olds for quite some time now. So, I went ahead and got some 3" Eibach springs for the rear, and for the front I went with tubular control arms, with QA1 single adjustable coil-overs.
Here is what it looked like with the before I started.

The front wouldn't adjust with the 350# springs that I bought originally, so I had to order some 500# springs for them.
While waiting for the springs, I decided to replace the brake hoses since they were pretty much shot. Then of course, the bleeders on the calipers were frozen, so new calipers. Then I broke the steel line to the brake hoses, so new steel line. The whole front end will be new by the time I finish.....

Love this pic, but it's too low. I have 255/60/15 tires in the front, and in this pic they are hitting the wheel well. Will probably be an inch up from this when it's all done... still waiting on the new springs.

Yeah, that looks really good, but 255/60-15s on stock 15x7s is pushing it. I have them on the front of my 69 H/O and at stock height I get occasional rubbing.
Probably not, but it was much easier to just rip the old ones out, and install the new ones since they already had bushings and ball joints installed.
New Calipers, Hoses, and Lines on.....

New 500# Springs, and new sway bar bushings... just need to bleed to brakes, then hopefully I'll be rolling again.

Are those the ProComp arms? I just got a set, but noticed that the delrin varied from improperly cut - causing the sleeve to stick - to quite loose.
I'm a long way from installing, so I have the Hotchkis rebuild bushings on order just to see if they're any better.
Did you notice any bushing problems? Were the arms able to wiggle back/forth after mounting?
Thanks!

Wheels are from Summit. Didn't have any problems getting them balanced. Yes, painted the centers to look more like it had the 5 bezels.
Here is the final stance. It might settle a little more.. only have about 2 miles on it. Still need to get it aligned, but it's close for now... and will put some miles on it before I align it in case it does settle a little.
From the drive around the block...all seems to be good. Ride is pretty much just like it was before. Have the shocks set at 6 clicks for now, will probably have to fine tune them still.

So far, so good. Drove it down the road, up to 60mph. Rides pretty nice actually. Did a little slalom on my street at around 30mph... hardly any body roll.... but, it's always been pretty tight. Sway bar on the rear, and 1 1/4" sway on the front. The 500# springs stiffen it up even more.
