68 delta 88 front left wheel spindle question

Someone welded the nut on under the cap on the wheel hub where the speedometer cable goes on my Delta 88. So I guess I need a new spindle and nut. Does anyone know where I can find this? it's in the shop so I can get them to cut it or whatever but I need to find these parts. I found this but it says it is for the other side. http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...,parttype,1616

Welded? Are you sure?

You mean the nut that holds the wheel bearing and the spindle on?

It should be retained by a C-clip.

We need pictures.

I wonder if something like this would work with modifications http://www.jcwhitney.com/trailer-spi...wx?filterid=j1

No.

That would be a BAD IDEA.

I'd still like to see exactly what's going on in there before saying anything, but IF somebody really went in and welded the nut onto your spindle, then you need a new spindle.

Looks like you need to salvage yard search. Depending on your area that may be easier said than done.

I miss my days in San Diego when I could go to Brown Field area yards and find 60's and 70's cars there.

Pictures first thou....

I agree with MD, you need more information before making a recommendation.

Are there any other spindles that will fit? if it has to be from a Delta 88 I'm screwed. He said I need a new spindle, I really don't want to drive over there, jack it up, take the wheel off, take the cap off and take a picture. If I had the car here it would be different. Anyway I understand why you want pictures, but I've been going to this guy for 4 years and I trust his judgment in saying I need a new spindle. There are a few Cutlasses in scrap yards around here any chance that would fit? How about other GM full size cars?

If the spindle is truly shot, then you need one from a 65-69 B or C body, if you've got disc brakes, or from a 67-70 B or C body if you've got drums.

They're out there. Good luck.

I've got the drums, does it have to be an Oldsmobile?

Wow, thanks for that link, they actually have stuff for this car unlike everybody else. I'm getting a spindle and a window regulator.
