1974 ignition key tumbler removal
I lost my keys (the only set) and I have to get some made the problem is I can't get the key switch tumbler out and don't know how to ? Can someone give me some pointers or lead me in the right direction. thanks Marlo
P.S. I have a car show coming up next week and I would hate to pay a lock smith 80 dollars for something that may take 15 minutes to do or less + 35 more to make the key. my lady told me to get a key made -Didn't listen!!!!

Yes, it's easy to remove the lock cylinder, even without the key, once you pull the steering wheel. Here's the thread:

The lock cylinder will have a four digit code stamped on it. Bring the cylinder to a GM dealership parts counter, along with your title or registration, and they should be able to punch a new key. Same goes for the door lock cylinder.
