1968 Olds 98 ignition tumbler retaining nut

Help!!
The guys rewiring my 1968 Olds 98 convertible lost the threaded retaining nut/clamp? that holds the ignition tumbler in place behind the dash.
I am having a tough time finding one, or coming up with an alternative solution.
My restoration is almost complete, but this is really holding things up.
Any help appreciated,
Thanks,
Ian

I looked up the Delco part number for your ignition switch, and it is a D1426A. There is nothing that goes behind the dash on the switch. The 3 molded in bars on the switch keep the switch from pulling through the dash when you install the bezel nut. If your original switch was replaced with an aftermarket switch that has a long threaded barrel, then there would be a back nut on that switch. If this is the case, then the only choice you are left with is to find a replacement nut, or get a NOS Delco unit. If you have lost the ignition switch bezel, then that isn't as big of a problem. There are only 2 threads used in the GM line. One is 24 threads per inch, and the other is 32 threads per inch (based on my old memory banks). If you can tell me which one you need, I can make some suggestions for the bezel. I know that the 1960 - 1964 Chevrolet Corvair switch is 24 TPI, and the 1959 - 1964 Cadillac used the 32 TPI. Both of these switch bezels are relatively easy to find used on eBay.
