UP for sale in the kc area is a real 69 hurst olds number 339. Car is obviously rough and will need pretty much everything but is a real hurst olds. Motor was stolen by a machine shop that went belly up years ago. It is what it is. i have a new quarter for the drivers
side. asking $19,950 Contact Dwain if interested 913-963-9619
I hope someone grabs the thing and puts it back the way it should be. It will likely never be 100% as there’s so many special parts that are missing but at least it will hopefully be saved one way or another.
fyi the vin is 344879M which is a real 69 hurst olds
Not necessarily. That's not a complete VIN. It just means it started life as a 69 Olds 442 hard top built in Lansing. As all 69 442 hard tops built in Lansing had that very same sequence to start their VIN.
The last 6 numbers of the VIN, if one of the 553 vin numbers verified, would be irrefutable evidence. That dash tag didn't come from HPRC. It is a home made job.
This means the car SHOULD have VIN 344879M356463 because THAT would be Demmer #339. If that matches up (or not), then you know for sure. What up with those brake lines from the MC? That's kinda scary AF.
That said, it has all the hallmarks of being genuine from what I can see in the pictures so far. But there are other things to support it if they're there. Like the holes in the center hood tooth for any emblems have never been drilled. Is the OH transmission still in the car? Probably not since the shifter and console were likely stolen when the engine was. If it is still there, it will have a derivative of the VIN showing the last 6 of 356463 as well.
The cowl tag can say a lot as well. Like 50 50 or 50-50 paint code and 937 seat code. Target production week also needs to fall within "specs" as 99% of them were built in a specific period of time in the spring of 69. Note, some H/Os (and 442) also came with 336 Cutlass body tags. Not sure when they actually started "fixing" that with the 344 tags.
And THAT'S how you would tell if it is indeed, car #339.
X2 what the previous person said, but you didn't answer my other question, do you have any of the parts from the car, also can you supply the rest of the vin number so I can check it with the list of cars, and can I get a pick of the cowl tag .
thanks
no d heads as the motor was stolen. i'll try and get a pic in the next couple days, i'm not where the car is located at. i listed it for my Dad. You are welcome to text him
Well, it’s definitely NOT Deemmer car 339. I did see in my previous post I typo’d the seat code. It is 930 which is black vinyl with front buckets.
The tag has all the hallmarks of a genuine H/O, but someone with the VIN list needs to check to see if it’s on there and which number if so. The odds of a white 442 hardtop made in Lansing with black vinyl buckets that wasn’t an H/O built the week of 04C is not that great. Not impossible but not that likely.
im out of pocket until next week so I don’t have access to the list. But I can say with certainty this is not Demmer car 339. Might be another number though.
I have 359202 as Demmer # 325, no associated Brass Plate#, so that vin is listed as an actual 1969 Hurst/Olds. '04C' cowl date is in line with other vin's in that range as well.
Not sure where the 339 came from. At some early point there was a list with cars listed and numbered in Vin# order, just for listing sake. Cars came and went off the list per verifications and I'm only shooting at a dart board as it may have been the 339th listed in order way back when. I only say that as I have it as the 332 in pure vin order listing and its in that neighborhood. I don't have a brass plate #339 listed, but the plate in the pic's is not the correct 'format' as originals.
Per the poster, do you know how long your dad as owned it and where it came from?
Good luck with the sale.
Man, I would LOVE to take this on as a project. Unfortunately, no way the financials work. I wouldn't do it for the return, I love these cars, but this car needs EVERYTHING. You're staring down $100k+ to restore close to factory. And that's doing a lot of the work yourself.
looks like it is the original transmission according to the tag from what i can tell and rear end. I'm having him check on the intake. Pics at the bottom of this thread
i know there is some good wiggle room guys, just not ready to go down around 10. No promises but if you meet in the middle of this offer and his asking i bet he would let it go. Dwain 913-963-9619 he's 83 so i don't know if he sees all his text, might be best to call
