1966 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Hardtop at Mecum

Wonder what it will bring? Lots more photos than a typical Mecum. Interesting that the before photo of the front end doesn't have the turn signals moved inward.

That because when the car was found in Texas many years ago the front end had been replaced.

That's weird there are no pictures of the air shroud.

I thought the same thing. With all the photos added, this is the only one that shows a decent portion of the air cleaner:

So, none of the 66 W cars would have had the stand alone tach mounted on the dash from the factory?

Yes because they both were still an option. The Rally Pack did not replace the side mount tach.

What an amazing vehicle. Did not realize there are so few left. I figured about half were still around. But Hemmings pegs the number even lower than Mecum, at 16 known to exist.

Taking into consideration Mecum just sold a regular version for a very healthy 66k. I'm thinking the W30 will see 80k +. Its very nicely optioned for an original W30.

Look at the contrast from one interior to another, here below is possibly the 1st 1966 W30 ever built. I would think the Mecum W30s beautiful black interior is going to give a positive kick in the pants when the time comes.

No tic toc tach, no buckets, no console. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/lan...le-4-4-2-w-30/

Of note Curt Anderson has authenticated both the Hemmings write up car and the one coming up at Mecum.

The car pictured is a Club Coupe and were only bench seats, no buckets.

Actually at one time Jim owned 4 66 W30s at the same time. There used to be a picture on 442.com back in the day. The other one was car number 18.

I think he did own 18 but not all at the same time. Next time I talk to him I'll verify.

Oh Mike he never spoke of the 66 W30 black cutlass post coupe car. That was on the lift at dealer he had just gotten when the 4 car picture was done.

I don't remember that one and the picture I have somewhere had 3 red 66 W30's in it. He did own a ton of Oldsmobile's for sure.

He did have a 66 Track Pack Sports Coupe that I previously owned. Here's the pictures of the 3 66 W30's I remember.

Yes that's the picture. The statement on 442.com said he had another one at the time also.

Jim said he only had the 3 66 W30's at one time and even at that it was only for about 10 minutes. The cars in the pictures was # 15, # 29 & # 42 but he did own # 18 but not at the same time as these 3. The black Sports Coupe you mentioned was the track pack car that I had previously owned. I know it's hard to remember all of these cars after so many years..

Great info you all. My guess is that w30 will be in the low 6 figures at auction end but certainly could be wrong. If it dont hit those numbers then I doubt it hits reserve. Very special cars but little sales history to determine what it will bring..Mike, whats your guess?

I'm not smart enough to guess auction prices. They are going to need 2 or more bidders or a single bidder wanting it to meet reserve.

Whoa those pics with the 3 Stohlman's cars are a blast from at least a quarter century ago.
Where the hell have I seen them before? 442 dot com?

Who's got the pic with the giant Olds Rocket landscaping done in stone with the cars parked around it.
Was that was Jim Stohlman's yard as well, no?

Steve Bicker. You should know him, he lives practically next door to you. I think Churchville
