Joe - Andy's question has to do with how the OAI flapper hold down springs, on the subject car, are just attached over the top lip of the plastic flapper.
My bet is the attaching "tabs" on the underside are there and someone got tired of trying to attach the springs through the small holes in the tab on each side. "Quick and Dirty" method of attaching the hold down springs was used instead....just hook 'em over the top lip......especially since there isn't a foam seal to get in the way.
Thanks, Patton. I missed that question. Yeah, that's just operator error.
What does “Sold on application for duplicate title” mean ? Is there no title for the car and one has been applied for ?
Wow. Good point. Depending on the state getting a title for an old car that hasn't been registered in years can be an absolute nightmare and often impossible.
How does a website auction house etc put a car up for auction with no title????
It's at 70K with more than a day left! Maybe someone knows something more about the car then the rest of us. Or maybe it's as Joe said and it's the rare "barn find" dirt.
Needs all four corners to start with. That is strong rust on that deck lid. Imagine the rest of it. Obviously the entire car has already been repainted. Bring a convertible that car is begging for at least 50 grand to bring it back. At least.
I can't wait for this market crash. 👍
I do laugh at all the questions about this car yet these stripes and emblem placements are better than 90 percent of the quote high dollar cars all pretty and redone beyond factory.

The stripes on front fenders are incorrectly applied, hood as well. ( so not quite as perfect as you say) My guess is that front clip was replaced. Take a lot more than $50,000 to put that car together concourse. Panel replacement paint and convertible top could easily reach 50,000 from a bona fide restoration shop. If bought at 70k, ad 130-140k to professionally restore this car and the market on a verified w30 convertible could easily hit 300k. Don’t hold your breath on the market tanking very soon..High end rare vehicles like this will hold value..The middle of the road cars and below will be the ones to take the brunt..Not sure why you’re so excited to see the market crash but to each their own as they say..

Andy. I am just tired of seeing people pay big money for non documented true cars while people with true cars pay the price. Hey to each their own. You want to go pay stupid money for something. Do your thing. All the power to you. What it does is price out true Oldsmobile people that don't have stupid money. To each their own. Someone wants to pay 70,000 dollars plus for this car? Do it. Watch how quick that car is at a dealer. I prefer soul.
Is the bidding at 100K.. That's really hard to believe. There's got to be some shill bidding going on. Has anyone verified ANY W30 parts or docs..
W intake, heads, carb, dist, trans, rear, broadcast card ? NOPE - just roll the fuzzy dice and good luck. What a great sales technique - no info required.
Eevn if everything is correct, thats still crazy money. Come on..... I smell BS from 3000 miles away.
The car has been repainted, stripes added incorrectly, etc. Oh well, best of luck to the buyer.

Very suspect and likely.. With no broadcast card or window sticker, there’s no proof of one of the 264. But then again, those are replicated too. (And available aged for discriminating tastes). Maybe verification through a search with GM Heritage?

Amen Vader Amen. I call total bs. But so many fools with more money than brains do not care.
I said it before on so many threads. Coming soon to a dealer near you. Soul? Oldsmobile soul? Soul is in the dollar anymore.
The listing says it is a turbo so........
My bet is someone inspected it and saw a W27 and kept it quiet ?
No doubt. Barn car AND a factory turbo car?? Worth all the bank right there. 👍

Nobody is going to step up and admit that they bought this car. Hell I still yell shill bidding if it weren't for dealers like volo. No way this car was bought by a true Oldsmobile person for that kind of money. No way. Don't worry. It will show up for stupid money for sale. Count on that. Bought by an actual Oldsmobile fan? Guess we will see.
