Spindle removal

Spindle removal
I have a drum to disc brake conversion kit and I disassembled the front of the drum brake and pulled the shock. The kit comes with a new spindle, so I need to get the old one out. If any have done this, you know how it looks, bolt coming through from the upper control arm and same on the lower. I Just wanted to know how to pull those two apart so I can get the old spindle off and the new one on.
Thanks!
Thanks!

VERY CAREFULLY! The spindle is mounted to the upper and lower ball joints. The nut needs to be loosened, then separated from the ball joint with either a ball joint separator or a pickle fork. The whole assembly needs to be supported at the bottom of the lower control arm, and the car supporter on the frame behind the wheel. When the spindle "pops off" the ball joint stud, you carefully lower the control arm, while the rest of the car rests on the frame jack stand. This will slowly take the tension off the coil spring. You will probably also need a spring compressor if you plan to remove the control arm for bushings. The spring is under tremendous pressure, and failure to properly support, then lower the control arm to remove the spindle can be disastrous. If the spring goes flying, it can destroy your car, or if it hits you, seriously injure or kill you.

If your just changing the spindle, you do not need to remove the shock. The car needs to be supported on the lower control arms with jack stands. Remove the cotter pins and nuts for the ball joint studs. You can separate the ball joints from the spindle by what ever method you choose, I use a BFH and whack on the spindle area where the ball joint attaches as they are a tapered fit. Disconnect brake line and remove the spindle.
You can replace upper control bushings by removing the upper shock mounting nuts at the top and crossbar nuts to remove the whole control arm. You can also remove both ball joints at this point to replace them. The only thing you cannot replace with the car supported by the lower control arm are the lower bushings.
Then reverse to reassemble.
