On road & need help with Toronado brakes

I’m heading down to TX for a car show and am having brake issues on my ‘69 Toronado. My brake lights are stuck on. The fluid in the master cylinder is full. The brakes work fine and they are not applied when the pedal is released. But the brake pedal is sitting low enough that it activates the brake light switch. I can pull up on the brake pedal and the lights go off. When I let go of the brake pedal, it falls down a couple inches or so. There is no resistance, it just flops down. Any thoughts?

Brake booster issue? Try removing the vacuum line to the booster (plug the line so there’s no vacuum leak) and see what happens with the brake pedal.

Get a photo of the brake light switch area under the dash. Two things to check out;
1. The pin that attaches the brake pedal arm to the brake booster rod could have come out.
2. The brake light switch may just need to be adjusted. The switch body is threaded and can be moved in and out.

Has the resting position of the brake pedal changed?

Has any work been done on the brakes recently? Has the pedal just started to be in this position? I would adjust the power booster rod at the pedal to get it back to the correct position so the brake switch works properly.

x2 on checking the adjustment of the brake light activation switch.

You can also depress the brake pedal with the car OFF. Start the car and the vacuum booster will pull the pedal closer to the firewall if it's operating correctly.
