Rear disc brakes 67 Cutlass

Bought a rear disc brake kit from a supplier stated to fit 67 Cutlass 10 and 12 bolt rear axles. The rotors won't fit over the axles, about a 1/4 " too small. Tried it on both a 10 and a 12 bolt rear end I have and won't fit either. I am returning it, but the supplier tells me I must have aftermarket axles. I know for a fact that they are both OEM and original to the cars. Has anyone found a set that fits? Thanks

Rear Discs

After some research I have found the rear disc kits do not fit the Olds or Pontiac rear axles without machining either the disc or the axle. That does not stop the sellers from advertising that they do.

Hmm that is bad news I bought a 1967 disc break set up for rear and front but never tried them out! Mine supplied rotors with kit. Looks like this year would be a good time to check when it gets warmer! I have had both kits for several years my round to it is slow.

You can always have the axle machined down about a 1/4". Or machine the rotor. Guess they would also have to be balanced. If you are stuck with them that is. I have decided to just rebuild the rear drum system.

Hmm That is a good ideal 1/4 inch off a rotor will not hurt anything if i have that problem. My 1970 has that much missing on one edge of the rotor flat spot. It has never been a problem! Don't ask!
