Dual Master Cylinder for 66 F-85

I am planning to install a front disc setup on my 66 F-85 eventually, but for right now I am trying to just get the car driving safely and am looking for the best way to just convert the current setup to dual master cylinder with the power drums. My thought is to get the parts for a 67 and hope everything bolts up, but I figured I’d reach out here to see if anyone knows of a better way and if not, hoping someone can tell me what parts I’ll need? I’m thinking; the dual master cylinder and a portioning block but I read somewhere on here about possibly needing a new brake booster too to make the dual MC work?

No, the Cad booster won't work.

The whole point of my suggestion was that you didn't need to touch the booster, just swap the M/C for the Cad one. If you need a booster, just get the 67 Toro booster and M/C.

Raising an old post of mine to ask another question: if I use the Caddy MC on the stock booster, what distribution block should I get?

If you look at ebay.com you'll find a relatively inexpensive dual master cylinder kit for $140 to go to duel brake setup.

The repro GM distro block is readily available, but since your car doesn't have the BRAKE warning light, all you really need is a tee fitting for the front brakes. The rear line just goes directly from the M/C to the line that runs down the frame. There is no proportioning function needed for four wheel drums. The only reason the 1967-up cars use a distro block with drums is to support the differential pressure switch for the federally-mandated idiot light.

Got it. Thanks! So I can use the stock 66 fitting, correct?

The stock 1966 fitting has one line in and three out. You can reuse it if you plug the port that previously went to the rear brakes. Be sure to use a real inverted flare plug, not a pipe plug that gets forced into the hole. Alternately, tee fittings cost like $5.

Thanks Joe for the info and model number. Like Runt I’m also doing this upgrade in a week or two.
My 66 442 has stock style booster and single pot master so the simple switch to Caddy version is a big enough upgrade for me.

So, in addition to MC….just need to order a Tee and/or flared plug for distribution block.

Any idea on plug size? I’m guessing 3/8”-24?
