Drum to disc swap

I am doing a front drum to disc brake swap on my 1966 Oldsmobile 442. My dad left off with it and I’m starting where he stopped. I have the disc and the calipers and the swap kit from brp hot rods, but what I am questioning is if I am supposed to put the caliper mounting bracket on the opposite side of where it is. The top bolt comes through fine but the bottom one can’t due to being blocked by the part where the steering knuckle meets the outer tie rod. If anyone can help me with figuring out if I am supposed to put the caliper mounting bracket on the other side of the steering knuckle or if I’m doing something wrong, help would be greatly appreciated.

I would read this whole thread, and do a factory style conversion.
