Brake Fluid 55 Olds 88

Hi, guys. Another elementary question - where do I check the brake fluid on my 55 Olds 88? I think it is a small dipstick on the drivers side by the steering column with a little triangle on top that screws out. Is this correct? ALso, what type of brake fluid should I be using? Thanks!

So I’m late on this thread but I’m also having issues locating the master cylinder fill on my 55 olds 88. I have no dip stick on the drivers side. Any ideas guys?

It is there if you are talking about a power brake set up. It is below the steering column and slightly to the rear. doesn't look like a engine dip stick but a small flat spade thingy threaded top on the master.

It's a bit hard to top off with out ether a long skinny funnel or some clear plastic tubing attached to a bottle (like what is used in a diener for ketchup) . Don't drip it on your paint or it will remove it....Tedd

I use one of these:

If you google "tatoo bottle" you'll find them. Tedd's diner ketchup bottle suggestion works well also.
