Windshield scratch repair?
Furniture polish virtually eliminates scratches on safety glasses. Maybe it will help on your windshield too? Maybe it would just make it greasy though. Have you tried calling a glass shop for solutions? My company sub contracts several mobile windshield companies that do mobile glass repair for chips. Maybe they do scratch repair too. I have never asked.

Scratches can be removed from glass by using a glass cutting compound and a buffer. The only down side I've seen is the glass heats up and appears somewhat warped when looking through it. Sometimes if it's a light scratch they could eliminate it without this happening, but what you have appears deep. I used to be a service manager at a car dealership and we had a glass repair shop that specialized in scratch removal and chip repair--even they couldn't prevent the warped look.

When I was in the Car Business we would use Toothpaste .
What I would try is a product called Barkeepers Friend.
You can find it at Bed bath and Beyond.
I buy it to clean my Stainless Steel pots and Pans
There are 2 versions of it .A cleanser and a liquid.
I would recommend trying the liquid.
Let me know if it doesnt work.
I have a bottle of "Jaguar Screen Cleaner" windshield cleaner ..I can send you.

The white can be removed with a kit sold on ebay etc for windshields. It takes a LOOOONG time with the electric drill. The scratch doesnt really go away only the white/foggy stuff. Had a similar scratch on my 67 windshield and got satisfactory results but was a lot of work.

This is on a car I am considering buying, so I cannot actually try to repair it. I think 'windshield' can be added to the parts list...
