My left rear quarter window will not roll up on its own without me having to grab the window and help it up as I turn the window crank.

Is this a regulator issue or are the rollers shot? I'm thinking rollers.

It's a 68 442 convertible...

 

You may try a shot or 2 lithium grease spray. I get mine at Wally world.
Works well for door hinges too.

 

I try not to use petroleum-based greases on plastic parts (ie, the window rollers) as this eventually deteriorates the plastic. I prefer silicone grease.

In any case, if the window needs help going up because it is cocking as you try to raise it, chances are it is a roller issue. In any case, the back seat needs to come out so you can remove the interior trim and investigate (or even to lube the tracks).

 

Joe, how difficult is it to replace the rollers once the glass is out of the car? How many rollers do I need to buy? Fusik has them for about $12 each.

 

Since your is a convertible, I would pop the side panels and inspect before ordering any parts. It may be just some adjustment and/or rust or corrosion issues.

of the silicone spray grease.

 

I lubricated all my tracks and rollers with silicone spray and it as improved things but i noticed that none of the nylon rollers actually turn at all. Is this normal or are they all in a stuck position? I wanted to ask before i start taking everything apart.
