Need Help With Trim - Going From Landau Half Vinyl Top to No Vinyl Top

I am restoring a 1978 Delta 88 Holiday 88 that came from the factory with a Landau / Half Vinyl Top.

The Landau half vinyl top is trashed. I have removed the top and I am NOT planning to reinstall it. Instead, I am going to make it a ‘slick top’ or ‘bald head’ - meaning, no vinyl top, I’m just going to paint it.

Here’s the problem - the back window does not have any clips to hold the aluminum trim - because the half vinyl Landau top didn’t have any aluminum trim around the back window… only below the rear window and across / around the top

So… how can I solve this problem? Non-vinyl top and full vinyl top cars had metal clips to hold the aluminum trim around the rear window.

Are there aftermarket clips I can use? Would I have to weld them in place???

Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m hoping someone here removed one of these half tops from a Cutlass or Delta 88 and figured out how to hold the rear window trim in place …

Pics are worth 1,000 words so please see below …

Landau / Half Vinyl Top Examples … No aluminum trim around the back window

No clips to hold trim …

Slicktop and full vinyl top cars with trim around the back window …

They have clips like this ….

Any advice, help, suggestions are much appreciated !!!

Thanks

You can buy clips from any body shop supply house, though it is easier if you bring an example of one, to match it. Still, even pics might help. You can attach them with one of the following: studs, that you put on with a dent pulling stud gun, or tiny screws made for this purpose, or pop rivets (least desirable)

The set-up on your white Holiday should have the correct moldings and clips. If the clips are trashed, you should be able to match something up. I would even try a local glass installer.
