Molding fasteners

Mocking up the vinyl top trim molding and forget how they were fastened at the spot with the hole? Should there be a hole drilled in the pot metal piece?
The rest of the trim is held on by the clips which use the stud and the front uses a screw. I dont recall what that was for? Was there another fastener with a stud that gets bolted from inside trunk?

Paul, it's been a long time since I worked in that area. I believe there is a clip with a stud that slides into the molding at the rear. The pot metal piece just slides into the molding, I think. I think you can see it in the"related thread" under this one. Joe P. posted a pic of the clip. There are different types and sizes, but something like that.

Wow, that's a weird one! I don't think so, Dean. I think it's like one of those clips below this at the bottom of the Auveco chart. Not related topics but related thread underneath the topics. I don't know how to pull it up here.

There you go, Paul! Good work Dean, Fusick sells those types of clips for Olds. Many different widths are available. It's something like the clips from one of those last 2 rows.

Here are a few more examples from my 1971 CS vinyl top trim mounting things.

Here is a sliding stud. These are used where you have access from the Trunk to add on a speed nut.

Some have studs welded to the trim. Usually found on corners and places with trunk access.

Here is a sliding mount. The screw goes into the roof.

In the picture above, the screw actually goes in the other direction

Exclamation

The Fisher Body manual shows all of the clips and their locations.

Valuable book for reassembly.

Hi MY442:
Not all Fisher body manuals are the same.
The one in the pictured below only contains a few items about mounting trim and only lists a fraction of the mounting devices .
I found it almost useless when I tried to identify my clips.

Which manual do you have?
