I am not sure which is the right way to install the 6 bumpers, is picture #1 correct or is picture #2 correct. This car didn't have them installed, so nothing to go on and once they are in it looks like they aren't coming back out easily. Thanks for the help in advance!!
The tapered end goes up. It's intended to be a lead-in guide so the hood closes properly. Square end up will prevent the hood from closing all the way.
Thanks, Joe, sorta thought that, but just wanted to make sure. Looks like when they are in, it would be a bear to get them back out!!
Yeah, you have to squeeze both sides of the rubber "barb" to fit it back through the hole. I've done this with a large flat blade screwdriver, one side at a time.
Do these bumpers "settle in" after a while? I installed 4 out of the 6 on my 67 Cutlass and I couldn't get the hood to close all the way. It felt bound up. I tried to remove them and destroyed all 4 in the process. I was at a local car show yesterday and the new ones are correct, I think it's either a fitment issue or a panel alignment for mine?
The top is what was on the car. The bottom is the broken new bumper
It looks to me that the old one is not as thick, either from age or the new one isn't exactly to oem specs. When you replace them a second time maybe you could remove some of the material if the new ones are just a thick as the first set. Just a thought.

I had an email going back n forth with someone at Year One and they told me that these are the correct bumpers. I looked at a 67 GTO last night and he had the same Year One bumpers. I ordered a new set of the same bumpers. First I'm going to double check my hood to fender gaps. If those are good, then I'm going to do as you suggested and shave a little material off of them. Thanks!
64-67 F85 all use the same bumper. The one shown that is from 70 is different.
I was bored at work today so i compared my original ones with the ones i got from "The Parts Place".
The new ones are a little different.
the original one is a little wider.
Otherwise they are close.
I created them both in solidworks to compare also.
new one on left.
Blue one is old one, Red one is new one.
