68 DS remote mirror, trying to install

I'll get some pics up later. I got from a fellow member here a mirror per the subject line. Trying to install on my Convertible which has the factory holes for mounting ( since I bought the car it had a cheap screw on mirror) , the mounting area is distorted from the PO installing the cheapo mirror. When I place the remote mirror in place it sits so as to hang over the window channel so you would not be able to roll up the window with the mirror installed. Is there a difference between a convertible mirror and a hardtop mirror? Anyone have a picture of a 68 door with the mounting holes showing? Is it going to be possible to massage this small area back to "flat"? although Im not convinced that either will give me enough room to mount it. Pretty sure the car originally had the remote mirror as the chrome **** surround is installed in the door panel. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!

It sounds like a 70-72 mirror, I know they are slightly different and the difference is in the angle of the top of the door where it sits

What Mike said. Although they look very similar, the 68-69 remote DS remote mirror is different than the 70-72 DS remote mirror. The 70-72 mirror is mounted at a "steeper" angle because the door side on a 70-72 is different than that of a 68-69. A 70-72 mirror mounted on a 68-69 door will definitely interfere with the driver door window.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...mirror-132852/

the 70-72 base is at more of an angle the 68-69 is more horizontal

here is a 70-72 one
