This is for the 1970 Cutlass S interior.
I need to get some interior paint to fix the dash pieces I acquired to replace the hackery. Also, The Parts Place only has the front kick panels in black so I would need to paint them gold too.

The question: what is the color name of my interior that is gold colored? Is it "gold" or "mustard gold" or?

I also need to replace the underdash piece that was chopped up to mount stuff by the previous owner.
Anyone have one of these?

 

Does the trim tag have the interior color code on it?

Your best bet for OE color paint is SEM. Otherwise, just get rattle can paint at the hardware store.

What am I looking at Joe? I am guessing I need to decode the cowl tag first? Then look at the paint chart?

 

That is from the Product Information Manual. It provides both the locations for each color in the interior and the paint codes.

 

Highly doubtful that SEM makes that color.....at least in terms of being one of their "standard" colors that are in their Color Coat line of paints for vinyl and plastics.

You may find someone to mix something locally but who knows???

I probably have that lower vent piece and also have a '70 gold interior paint I had mixed per the PPG interior color paint code.

If the pic you show is what you have now then you might want to remove the two "louvered" vents to transfer them over to whatever lower AC vent valance panel you get.

I'd have to have a complete address to get a good shipping quote.....would probably want to use a good reinforced box for shipping since that piece is long and not a real strong item. I could paint the piece with the goldl mix I have but no guarantee it'll match the rest of your dash since it appears various parts have faded and/or changed colors over the years.

I would need to double check my paint supply and make sure I actually have the extra vent valance panel.

Joe, I've looked at that chart and I guess I just don't understand how to get the correct colors for my particular car.

 

Good luck matching interior trim.Even better luck getting it to adhere to the raw plastic.If it is raw plastic you will have to use an adhesion primer specifically for raw plastics,an up to date body shop will have that plastic primer/sealer and it will need to be catalized,as a fair amount of todays fascias come raw plastic and need a adhesion primer and then color applied.You may drop off your clean raw plastic parts and ask to have one light even coat sprayed,take them home then figure out what you are going to do for color.Once you get your paint dialed in,don't be afraid to carefully mask off a large area and blend your paint out so your eyes cannot pick up a color mismatch.
