71 442 palm green, and stripe combos

i have a barn find ragged out original paint, palm green 71 442 hardtop 455, it has the small pinstripes on the sides and on the trunk lid, they are gold in color, and the hood stripe is white, this is definitly and orig paint car, was it normal to have a white hood stripe and a gold body pin stripe??

Should be PNT code 42 for Palm Green. No I don't think it was normal to have 2 different colors for the stripes and hood. Got any pictures?

Not sure how Lime Green entered the equation? Palm Green had black, white, or green stripes available. I see no indication that gold stripes were recommended with Palm Green (at least in the beginning of the model year), which is strange because I would think they would match. It's possible someone opted for gold stripes and the hood stripes faded, or maybe white stripes were opted and the pinstripes are discolored.

The default stripe color for Palm Green is black, for what it's worth.

Sorry, my oversight. I didn't read the caption for code 42 paint swatch as it didn't really look green at the time. You are correct.

Sometimes they look similar on the color chips, but not sprayed on a body.

That would only be likely if the car wasn't built at Lansing.

TR 932 = Jade Green vinyl A51 Strato bucket seats

Looks to be an early production car from Arlington. Body number 00507. Wonder what the VIN will be? 344871R10XXXX?

Good chance of finding the build sheet in this car - somewhere. Might not be on the gas tank, but could easily be under a seat, carpet, parcel shelf....

Why? They are for 71. Only the 442 numerals are painted correct for 72. 71 and 72 color schemes on the grills are reversed, and 71 stone shield rocket is also different than 72. Trim bead on the grills and hood reveal is also different - 71 has the bead in the middle, 71 has the bead on the outer edge.

One thing I agree - OEM grill fit is easy to work with.

That passenger side stripe on front fender below 442 in the close up looks white versus the drivers side that looks gold. maybe oddly faded on one side?

I know this is an old thread but I could not help myself in that here is another 71 442- with the same trim triple green ; also from Arlington texas. FYI i think the gold looking strip is actually white mixed with years of fading green like mine..
