70-72 Supreme and Convertible Quarters Different?
70-72 Supreme and Convertible Quarters Different?
I have a 72 cutlass supreme that has typical rust around the rear wheel openings, and my body guy said the complete quarters cost more, but overall cost less because he has to do less metalwork to get them to fit. So I went online and it appears there are skins for fastback and supreme/convertible cars, and full quarters for fastback and supreme convertible cars. I ordered a set of Supreme/convertible rear quarters, and after waiting forever they finally arrived. Looking in the boxes, it appears they are Convertible quarters, which apparently are just a bit different than supreme quarters in the rear side window detail, and just forward of the trunk seam. Is anything else different? I am wondering what to do now. Are Supreme specific quarters even available new? Should I have the body man use these, and blend in where it meets the sail panel, should I sell them to someone working on a convertible, should I try to send them back and get just repair skins? Arrrgh! I am afraid I have made a $1100 screwup. On the plus side they look to be heavy gauge, well made, and well packed. What are the correct factory or aftermarket numbers for Supreme Hardtop 70-72 rear quarters? What would you guys do?
