'67 convertible boot cover attaching

Gentlemen,

My '67 CS convert has the "over clip" style of attaching the top boot to the SS trim piece . In a word, it does not work very well. The vinyl cover needs to be replaced as it does not fit very well over the retracted top, nor does is stay attached with the plastic clips, especially as the trim curves around the corners.

Can the curved trim ( stainless) that the top boot attaches to be replaced with a snap style boot cover trim piece, from another year, or is there another way of attaching the boot to the trim? Is there a better or alternative way of attaching the boot cover to the trim I have seen a boot cover that has very stiff plastic pieces that seem to slide underneath the rim to hold the cover in place.
Any body have another type installed on their car? Is it available, interchangable, say from a 66 that might have a different style ? or are there better clips in the same style available?

Thanks for your input.
