Olds Gold paint

Guys:
Looking for a source of Olds Gold engine paint, I can find nothing in Central Ohio. Back in the day, there was a couple of different shades you could get. The shade I am looking for is pretty close to "Gold Leaf" Any help would be great.
Thanks, Ron

Ron, if your not stickler for absolute purity, VHT gold high temp engine paint is very close.

Olds Gold paint

Guys:
Thanks for the reply, I got all the info I need. You guys are a wealth of information, considering the lengths I have went to on this restoration, the engine color needs to be as close as possible.
Thanks, Ron

I used the green from Bill Hirsch on my 54 and have been very pleased with it. A number of people have said their's is the closest. I imagine the others are good too.

We've actually got a pretty good storehouse of information about engine paints and colors on this forum.
Shame it's not all presented in one place so that people who haven't been here forever can find it easily...

Good luck with it!

Not sure if it was mentioned in any of the links MDchanic listed, but there are different 'golds' depending on year. IIRC, '70 & up are a brighter shade. My '68 (& I believe '69 too) had a duller/darker more 'mustardly' shade. Not sure about the 330s.

The Hirsch paint was a dead on match for my '68....

But, as this is the BBO forum, shouldn't you be asking about bronze, blue, or red ??

I agree, and I've had a number of original gold paint 68-72 350s. 68-69 were more of the mustard/gold leaf shade while 1970-72 had a more smooth, yellow "butterscotch" tint to them, for lack of a better term.

Indy 68:
NO, I do not like those colors against a Black Body Color, this is Not a concourse correct restoration, the finish look I am going for lends itself to the Olds Gold color as an accent color to the all Black Body color. I am also trying to break up the under hood black tones as well, by using Semigloss and Satin Black for different parts and brackets / assemblies, but I appreciate the input.
Thanks, Ron

X2. In my limited experience, the VHT holds up well.
I would say the first pic is the most accurate but it depends on your computer monitor.

I've used DupliColor generic gold for years and been pleased with the results. My latest engine was built and painted off-site and the builder (who is a VERY CLOSE friend and fellow Rocket Addict) used the Fusick paint. I have yet to see the finished product in person, but in pictures it looks good. This is a race engine and has many aftermarket pieces.

I'm pretty sure Advance Auto carries it in store. At least mine does.
