engine color ?

I have a 69 cutlass w the 350, what color matches best for engine paint? Back in my old diesel days I used auto paint and it matched dead on, sadly, there in nothing left that is "gold" that i can bring with me to the store.

Bill Hirsch, Fusick, and a few others all sell the right color heat-resistant paint, with the right amount of metal flake and the right finish.

Here and here are two other times this question has come up.

IIRC, the 69 didn't have a gold engine - the 350 was bronze colored and the 455 was red.

In '69. the 350 was painted gold. The 400 was painted bronze and the 455 was red. Fusick has all the engine paint colors in the right shade/hue/metal flake.

thx Randy. I knew there was something unique about the engine colors in 69.

i used the auto parts store duplicolor gold . After tuning and and touching stuff it turned to a nice dark shade of gold. Close enough is good enough if it aint a high dolar car where originlaity and correctness comes into play .

gold...

That's what I did, I grabbed the closest looking gold I could find........but of course I have an oddball year and its supposed to be copper !! everything I own is "different" to the extent that it makes my life harder or more expensive! Anyway, I just wanted to get the blue-chrome covers off the car. I have enclosed a photo of the "gold" covers, you can see the area I painted, but if you miss it, its the area circled in red. (ignore the fuel-line that looks like I bent it hammer and anvil, I know its ugly)
