What to do with my heads

What to do with my heads

So i have "J" smog heads for my 455 should i just plan on looking for new heads in this case?

I would think that it would be totally dependent on your intentions with the car. If you are wanting a competitive car at the strip, well yes perhaps you would want to go in a different direction. If you are refreshing a cruiser, (which happens to have a surplus of power), then it would be all the same to continue with the J's. Let's see the subject and can go from there.

I'm going to have it as a cruiser but also would like to have it for the strip from time to time.

With the amount of money to make the "J" heads somewhat productive, you could buy these and be dollars ahead.

With amount work needed on the "J" heads as in, just doing a valve job, maybe new valves and springs to match the cam, more than likely you will need guides, plus the pocket port work and port match, you will have bunch of money in them, plus they are 40 some odd years old and heavy. You will have more money in the "J's" than what the aluminum heads cost.

There's got to be someone looking for a boat anchor...maybe you could sell them for $5 or so?

Lol, I'm just playing. Find you a good used set of anything else and you're already ahead of where you were.
