Progress on the 455....

Well, I almost have a proper short block. Everything is assembled except for the oil pump--I need to get a gasket for the pickup tube to pump flange. The oil pan is in place for pictures but will come off tomorrow and the oil pump will be installed.

The side shot of the engine is rotated 90 degrees. The other photo shows where I opened up the drains between the lifters--ground away the rough castings (figured that I might as well since the crank was pulled out to grind the bottom of the cylinders to make room for the Eagle rods.

Now, if the heads are decent on the 425 that is in the car--with a cracked block from freezing and only 28K original miles --I should have a whole engine in 2 weeks.
