Ok so I started my engine (455) up for the first few times only ran for short while each time (less then 10 min) due to various trial and error electrical problems.

To start the engine is running at 1000 -2000 rpm (oil PSI 40) (water temp 190 -200)

I'm getting lot of white smoke from the exhaust wondering if its normal for the first few times? I know i had some old in the cylinders when I put it together, does it take long for it to burn off? I'm also having a coolant leak in a few places all external as far as I'm aware could that be the cause of it if its getting inside? or could it be something like the paint on my headers burning off inside as well the out side of them sure does smoke a lot from the paint.

Some other questions:

1. What should my timing be? (not sure if the question need more details.)

2. My alternator is make a super loud screech when its wired up not sire if i have it wired right (acdelco internal) wasn't really sure how it really hooked up. though it looks like it burned all the paint off one side of the pulley.

3. this is a transmission question but since i don't have the drive shaft in is it normal for oil to be spilling out of the tail (M21)
