Replacing Intake Manifold

I just removed the intake and carb on a 68 400. Should I use the front and rear manifold gaskets or permatex? I am going to install an Edelbrock performer manifold and 600 cfm carb, any advice or tips would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!

Steve, I wouldn't use the rubber end gaskets. Instead, put a bead of Permatex Ultra black down on the block surface and then set the intake manifold straight down on it. As added insurance, you can take a center punch and punch 2 rows of dimples on the block and 3 or so rows on the bottom of the intake manifold end seal areas. When the Permatex dries, it will have "fingers" in these holes and will resist pushing out with crankcase pressure.
