Rear main bearing cap seal. 371

Hi
i am replacing the oil pan gasket on my 1959 371. The Best gasket set cam with 2 pieces of cork noted as “rear main cap seal”. I didnt notice these on the engine during disassembly. Any idea where to install these? Also, do i use rtv on the Best gasket set ?

thanks
ken

The cork seals go here, between the rear main cap and the block.
Use a dab of RTV on the corners of the pan. Use Hi-Tack to hold the gasket to the block.

Hi
thanks this is extremely helpful! I will check to see if the old one is still there and replace them. My thought is to install the gasket on the pan using long bolts to align it to the block. Thanks again
