Olds 425 dementions

Online I'm getting the same numbers, sump, starter and oil filter placement as the 455. Is this true. How about the weight.

When picking out a 425 what should I consider.
Will I go wrong getting one from a toranado due to the fwd? What about the different can degree?

Thanks Guys

As far as I know the cams are available, I think it’s just the larger lifters that are harder to come by. You still working on that 63?

i ended up selling my 63's. Took that money and got a 65 skylark ht, then picked up a 55 Packard clipper ht for dirt cheap, and just last week I got 63 lesabre wagon. I'm thinking of putting an olds engine in the wagon and I've heard nothing but good stories of the 425. I don't know of you still have my # but send me a text so I can save your # again.

The only differences between the 425 and 455 are the stroke, and the various combinations of lifter bank angle and diameter. Externally the two are identical.

So does the 425 exhaust connect in the middle?
Will intakes for the 455 fit the 425?
And performance part too from the 455 too?
Does the 425 share the same oiling problems as the 455 in the top side of the engine during high rpms for prolonged time?

If any of that stuff was different, I would have mentioned it in the sentence that started "the ONLY differences between the two..."

EVERYTHING ELSE is the same. Oil passages, port dimensions, etc, etc. As for this mythical "oiling problem", I've never seen it in nearly half a century of running these motors. What, exactly do you define as "prolonged" and "high rpms"?

well that's real cool.. and about the oiling issue, im just going on what I've read in other forums. More good news if its a myth. Any engine would have issues if you held the rpms up high for long periods of time.

I don't know what "variable shifts" are, but if you are asking about the switch pitch torque converter, yes, all 1965-67 Olds TH400s were switch pitch.
